I was wondering if there is much emphasis given in the teaching where you gather with others believers "about love for and obedience to Jesus"?

Amen sister. Love is everything. Preffering others before ourselves. Walking the way Christ walked in the way of Love. 1 Corinthians 13. Without this sacrifice and discipline and obedience are "nothing!"
I understand that your question was somewhat rhetorical, but yes, there is a lot of emphasis on these things where I fellowship. Obedience as a result of relationship. We obey Him because we love Him. We love Him because He first loved us.
