Rochester certainly doesn’t deserve true Biblical revival more than any other city in the country, but we sure do need it; as the entire nation does.
Your chances of becoming a victim of crime in Rochester is more than double that of New York. A recent study showed that if the safest city to live ranked a 100; Rochester is a 4.
Rochester has a powerful homosexual agenda, backed by liberal politicians. It is considered by many to be the San Francisco of the East.
Sometimes it seems that the places where God moved in a powerful way in the past, the devil seems to like to come in like a flood and get a strong foothold.
In the 1830s God had great victory through the powerful preaching of Charles Finney. Now the fire is long gone. Many of the churches that Finney preached in are liberal and have long abandoned the preaching of the Holy Scriptures.
“The zenith of Finney's evangelistic career was reached at Rochester, New York, where he preached 98 sermons between September 10, 1830, and March 6, 1831. Shopkeepers closed their businesses, posting notices urging people to attend Finney's meetings. Reportedly, the population of the town increased by two-thirds during the revival, but crime dropped by two-thirds over the same period.”
We don’t want revival just for comfort sake, not for safety sake; we NEED God to be glorified in this region again. God help us!
Doug and I are praying that we are able to find more people who are liked minded and want to see Biblical revival in this city and will join with us on Friday evenings to pray for it.
God be with you,
Brian
