i apologize for the Fred Phelps you tube rant on Bill Reilly

sermonindex Nov 21, 2010

to everyone, brothers and sisters, brother Paul West, moderators,

i am so sorry to have offended anyone by posting that, please forgive me.

Not in justification of my actions, you know, where a person says, "forgive me for doing so and so, but..." please let me explain why i even deigned to post such, (which will never happen again)

the reason i posted it, was it was so foul. so craven, so wicked, that it just took my breath aback, meaning here's a "pastor", amply quoting Scripture, but with such a vehemence and anger, against some journalist...and i ask myself, "does he not fear God"....

...then i thought of all the men, thru the centuries, who have misused the Provisions of God.

But i am terribly sorry, forgive me please, wont happen again.

chastened, neil

People like the likes of Phelps who condemn people, have a host of sins in their closet.

When we condemn someone on a particular sin, be sure that the very things we condemn the sinner on, we'll find ourselves doing.

This is how I know that Phelps is not of God.

John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

I well understand how strong the pull and temptation can be to bring the world's trash into this forum. I humbly submit that we need to pray for wisdom and discernment for this very reason. When tempted to post such videos here, we should think of our own homes. Would we bring trash into our homes, to feed our own children with?

Much of what we attempt to bring in here and share with others is just that. The spiritual equivalent of roadkill, though dressed up and seasoned as a palatable meal. We need a divine wisdom and an awareness of Satan's tactics. If he can't infiltrate our lives with outright, obvious sin, he'll transform an unclean thing into something to be considered, and then offer it to us on a silver platter for consumption. If you fall for it and eat thereof, you immediately taste the death. Let's prevent even the tasting of it. Keep the trash outside on the road where it belongs; let the buzzards eat it instead.

Brother Paul,

You are so right. The enemy wants to gain entrance into our lives through the thought life, and make us think that we are doing the will of God. Many godly men have been hooked on porn because they thought that they needed to study it out so that they could preach against it. What a deception and a lie. Yes, we need to be honest about our sin. Sometimes the Lord will lead us to go to a mature brother with a confession, but even in this instance we would not go into details and give the enemy any ground.

A good policy is to follow this scripture:

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things [are] honest, whatsoever things [are] just, whatsoever things [are] pure, whatsoever things [are] lovely, whatsoever things [are] of good report; if [there be] any virtue, and if [there be] any praise, think on these things." (Philippians 4:8).
