Accepting self as God's 'one and only'

Anyone here hate themselves when they're around people? For some season I get that way at times and I don't know why. I'm reading a book titled 'What Kids Need Most in a Dad' written by Tim Hansel (Great book for new dads by the way written by a Christian father) and it has a chapter on enthusiasm saying that we should accept ourselves and embrace ourselves without apology, without excuse, and without complaint. We should accept ourselves as an original creation from our maker, one-of-a-kind being and a one-of-a-kind father.

Looking more into why I may feel like this at times is maybe I grew up with a very mean and sour mother that was cold at heart. I think that may be it hence I did grow up in a broken home where my parents divorced when I was 8.

Does anyone else here get haunted by their past at times? It seems like it gets the better of me every once and a while. Please pray for me that I accept myself as a one-and-only creation from our maker. Thank you.

I do. Since my past is full of wickedness I do not believe God wants me to dwell on it too much. Here is a word from God that has been very helpful.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] one thing [I do], forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14-15

Peace in Christ Jesus
