The resurrection

L
Lesserlight Nov 25, 2010

Knowledge of the resurrection is required foundational knowledge to posses before God can move anyone forward into perfection but what is the truth about what happens when someone dies? (He.6:1-3)

Does nothing happen until Jesus comes back and then some have to wait another 1000 years?

Or is everyone "spiritually resurrected " immediately following his or her death with some believing in one or more "physical resurrections" at a later date?

Paul makes it very clear that this is required knowledge to posses but there are numerous variations of the resurrection taught within the church.

When we are truly born again; we
are brought from death to life.
This is a spiritual resurrection.
When JESUS returns, those who abide
in HIM and live in HIM, will share
with HIM HIS glory and life eternal.
Those who sleep (who died in faith)
will hear HIS voice and be resurrected
to life eternal.

Hi sojourner7

Good post

The first resurrection is for this life and has allowed many to go from death unto life bringing glory to God and happiness to those around them.

Are we resurrected after our physical death?

Absolutely and it is within seconds and not a thousand years later

How do you know, and with which scripture would you back up this claim?

For the record, I believe in the resurrection of the body, and I've no idea where 'a thousand years' comes into it (in some people's understanding).

Hi Alive-to-God

As far as the thousand year part it comes from the following verse. However as the scriptures say a thousand years is a day and vice versa......... not a period of time as we think but a dispensation.

For instance it has been the day of salvation for nearly 2000 years and without a change it will be the day of salvation tomorrow yet tomorrow is a different day than today is

Revelation 20:5
But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Regarding our imediate resurrection.....

Man is a spirit with a soul that lives within a body and a body without a spirit is dead

James 2:26
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also

When a person dies the spirit goes back to God who gave it

Ecclesiastes 12:7
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

Everyone is resurrected immediately to the GWT even though there are many Christians who say that believers do not appear at the GWT (Re.20 10-13) but they have no scripture to back that up........... there is no difference between Paul's judgment seat of Christ and John's GWT. White is the color of righteousness and white is the only color in heaven. Also Christ is King and a King is at the throne or if anyone wants at the right hand of the Father that is still the throne.
