Something that has amazed me over the years is that the bible is often viewed as one large book but in reality it is made up up several. So when we carry around a bible we are carrying around a library :) My question though is simple and I hope won't be a source of debate but simply have fun and fellowship about the topic. What is your Favorite Book of the Bible and why?
I hope it is O.K. to have two. For me it is hard to separate them, as they both had a great impact on me at relatively the same time in my life.
Hands down, for me it is the Epistles of Jude and Galatians. The first showed me the depth of my own personal self-deception. And the latter showed me how to [be] a Christian.
I am sure, however, that in some time in the near future, the Book of Matthew may become my next great favorite, as I learn to digest its incredibly abrasive attack against my human nature.

Oh Yeah you can definitely have more than one, I am guess there is going to be a variety of different books that people favor simply because those particular book(s) spoke to their heart more.
Personally John and his letters are my favorites. John is an interesting guy and through reading and meditading on his letters I found I most likely wasn't a Christian and needed a Saviour. Then through John I learn more about Our Saviour. I often read Matthew as well more specifically 5-7.

I love all my Father's words and can't think of one conversation I like better than another and I am not trying to be cute.
Well as a man, I would have to say James, it really speaks to the men out there.
I listened to a Paul Washer sermon called examine yourself, based on 1st John, and God really spoke to me through it.
I love how he says he addresses his audience as "my little children", because as a new christian it is exactly how I feel.
Genesis is my favorite book of the bible. There is so many likenesses of Christ that it's overwhelming and I always see something new. I especially like reading about Joseph, how that he went from being in a prominent family and reduced to the lowest hell of a dungeon, and then rose again and sat down at the right hand of Pharaoh. Joseph became the mediator for Pharaoh. The Egyptians sold all that they had to Pharaoh in order for them to survive. Having sold all their property, Joseph moved them into cities for them to dwell. Sounds like something that God has for those that love Him, He has prepared for them a city for those that have given up everything to follow Him.
There is so much in there that it'll take a life time to extract just a a little.
Hard to pick.
I really enjoy all the Gospels but I have enjoyed the Gospel of John the best. Love to sit at the feet of Jesus in John.
The Psalms. Everything I need is there. Worshiping, Praising, Encouragement, Exportation, Comfort, Promises. And from David mostly. Who was not perfect but loved the Lord. I pray the Psalms too. One year things were so tough I found comfort and prayer in the Psalms.

There are three books I just love - I can't confine it to just one book.
1. Ecclesiastes. It is practical; it deals with one's perception of life, things, values and what is really important and explains why the unimportant is unimportant.
2. Isaiah. The book speaks much of the wrath of God against sin and then it speaks much of the mercy of God. All the while demonstrating what God is like and how he responds to people. Excellent theology found there...not wordy, but brief - if you are looking for it. And then there are times when God's humor shines through.
3. Revelation. This book is similar to Isaiah but the context is different. The glory, the beauty, the majesty of God/Jesus is richly demonstrated in it. His wrath is revealed as is his mercy. I love to read it and let my imagination soar with the wonderful descriptions Brother John shares about what he saw. And I get the sense the LORD Jesus partners with me when I do this. :-)

I have thirsted for Colossians, danced in 2 Corinthians, and adored the gems contained within the Minor Prophets, BUT Romans I cannot live without.

I'm not even sure it's 'okay' to have a 'favourite' book of the Bible.
And when it comes to personal devotions, I don't; daren't.
However, for scope over the message of the Bible, I'd pick Hebrews and Ephesians, John and Matthew, Romans and Galatians, Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Acts, Timothy, Titus and Peter.
I have been amazed at how God can speak through every line of the most mundane record, and wouldn't relegate those that I haven't mentioned - like Psalms and the prophets - to any lower a place than books which are easier to read or easier to understand, or, God has used in the past to bless me... especially the bits I don't understand. Got to read them again!

I discovered this one day when I decided to read the book of Numbers. It consists of details upon details - something I normally find agonizingly boring. In any case I read it. Doing so opened my eyes to how much God is interested in the smallest details! I mean the smallest details! I was enthralled! So, then, this means God is still very interested in the tiniest details in all of life, as well as mine! and yours, too. WOW! He is awesome!
Now you have the genealogy - something normally boring, at the best. Much inspiration there. But you have to dig for it. Sometimes it consists of a few words which can set your imagination soaring. Other times it will help one to connect the dots when you ponder the social interaction between people. And you discover that human nature has not changed in the years since. Now that is something to ponder, as well.
Tons of blessings in the most obscure places - this is the beauty of the WORD.
EDIT: Besides all this it is very much alive, unlike any other piece of literature.

My kids have commented about the strange names in the Bible, but I tell them, they all have meaning.
