Does anyone have any insight into what scriptural basis banners have?By banners I mean colored flags (if that is actually what a banner is!)

Hi NasherThe central idea is of a rallying point. Here is a little list of verses but it is noticable that most of these are in the book of Numbers. Num_1:52; Num_2:2; Num_2:3; Num_2:10; Num_2:17; Num_2:18; Num_2:25; Num_2:31; Num_2:34; Num_10:14; Num_10:18; Num_10:22; Num_10:25; Num_21:8; Num_21:9; Num_26:10; Psa_60:4; Son_2:4; Son_6:4; Isa_5:26; Isa_11:10; Isa_11:12; Isa_13:2; Isa_18:3; Isa_30:17; Isa_31:9; Isa_33:23; Isa_49:22; Isa_62:10; Jer_4:6; Jer_4:21; Jer_50:2; Jer_51:12; Jer_51:27; Eze_27:7;Numbers is Israel 'on the march' towards the promised land. Battle has always been a time of confusion and units of an army become easily separated in the 'fog of war'. The remedy was to hold high the banner and blow a trumpet or beat a drum. Your scattered unit could then regroup and receive fresh instructions from their commanders. They may have included coloured flags, or representations of animals, or more elaborate emblems.

What purpose could/would banners have in a worship service or meeting?
