DAILY LIGHT - DECEMBER 13 MORNING

Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power. - As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. - Trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified. - Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; in whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto a holy temple in the Lord: in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. - Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

Fight the good fight of faith. - In nothing terrified by your adversaries.

Be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.--2 Tim. 2:1

Where is the strength with which we are empowered? It is in Christ Jesus. It is in no sense in ourselves. Power is not given to us as to be used independently of Him. It is DIVINE power, both as to its exercise and its source. Then, again we are not called upon here to strengthen ourselves, but rather to allow ourselves to be strengthened. It is in the passive voice. "Be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. It is the office of the Holy Spirit of God thus to strengthen us. He does this by bringing us into the center and source of all power. It pleased the Father that all the fullness of grace should dwell in Jesus Christ. It is to Him the Spirit leads us. It is of the things of Christ that the Spirit takes and reveals to us (John 16:14). It is His might that communicates to us. But as we said, not apart from Him, but in union and communion with Him. "Being strengthened with all might according to the power of his glory" (Col. 1:11). When we are thus strengthened, we have no consciousness of strength in ourselves. It is then that we know our own weakness. But we have the power of Christ.
