DAILY LIGHT - DECEMBER 21 MORNING

The days of thy mourning shall be ended.

In the world ye shall have tribulation. — The whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body. — We that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters; and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

The days of thy mourning shall be ended.--Isa. 60:20

Prophetic words concerning Israel. But they have a voice for God's children today. The passage describes the transition from the state of "violence" and "wasting"--of darkness and gloom--into a condition of light, and joy, and boundless prosperity. The soul may read in the history of God's dealings with His ancient people the counterpart of his own experience. The great principles on which He deals with them in relation to their backsliding and sin are precisely those on which He deals with His spiritual Israel today. So the apostle declares, "Now all these things happened to them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come" (1 Cor. 10:11). There is a time coming when the day of our mourning shall cease, and God shall wipe away all tears from all faces. But we need not wait until glory for a fulfilment of these words in our own experience. We may have a foretaste, in a measure at least, of the joy and blessing contained in these words. Fullness of joy belongs to His children even now (John 15:11).
