Happy Birthday Arielle!

Today my oldest daughter turns 15. I've been calling her my "Samuel" for a couple of years now because she and I know that God has called her at a young age to be a light in a dark world - with her music as well as her life. Arielle is proof to me that God has a hope and a plan for the future and for the next generation. As she attends public highschool and goes about her life in a messed up world, she lives a Christ-like life that doesn't waver. She looks at every situation, every opportunity, every relationship as a training ground or a mission field. She knows and acknowledges that she is in training for whatever the Lord has called her for later in life. She refuses to hide behind religious walls to stay hidden away or sheltered. It would be like crushing a blooming flower underfoot. Her spiritual beauty and fragrance is made for all to experience.Though she is not perfect and though I still have to "parent" her- she is obviously shepherded by the Great Shepherd Himself. When most experts (in all the parenting books) would say to pull in the reigns or keep her away from the world- they cannot give me the insight to know that God will show His faithfullness through her. She has confidence in her Heavenly Father's plans- that He will keep her to Himself so that she will be a shining light for Him-- and He does!I have to admit, I have doubted God's faithfulness and wanted to put trust in man's teaching and suggestions. I have doubted that one single young lady can have an effect on others- not to mention whole groups of others. I have doubted that she could stay humble, pure and focused being only one among a sea of others who are foreigners. Yet the Lord has stayed faithful and He has spoken through her- of His promises and faithfullness. Where I had little faith and much doubt- she had much faith and no doubt. God has honored that in her life and used it to show me His great influence through her, especially lately through some remarkable things happening in other people's lives. This is something she wrote during a time when i doubted and she had faith:one against allme- so smallso strong they seemthem, together a teamwith God i can over-risewithout compromisejust like david, a heroLord, let your spirit flowpeople have doubts and dont believeoh Lord, please let them see...that yet even one like me....can change what we see~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~against all oddsdavid so young-so small-just him and the Lord-they overcame the enemygoliath fellagainst all oddsme so young-so small-just me and the Lord- can overcome the enemy....its calledfaith. At a time in my life when I was living for myself, Arielle was sent to me to get me back on the straight and narrow, to get my focus back on what really matters. I think she will be doing this all of her life in others' lives as well. She truly amazes me. Her outgoing personality, her boldness- to be different and outspoken. In these ways she is everything I wished I could have been in my vulnerable teen years. But to round out these qualities, she has a sweetness, a humbleness and a gift of discernment that often surpasses my own. When people meet her they never forget her. She doesn't go anywhere without leaving a mark, without leaving a fragrant air of Christ behind.Anyway, I just thought I'd get all of these thoughts down on this special day of hers. She is a gift to me and to this world. May the Lord continue to do His work in and through her.Happy Birthday, Arielle!Love, Mom (Chanin)

"I look to the ShepherdHe meets all my needsBesides the still waters He faithfully leadsBringing peace to my soul...Surely goodness and mercyshall follow meAll the days of my life"Just a lyric that came to my mind, while reading your post:-). It's an English song I learned during a Dutch Youthmeeting years ago. What a blessing of God children can be! To see Jesus Christ in and through them...It's also an encouragement to me, to hear that there are young people, who give there everything to the Lord. On my way home this evening, a well-known verse came to my mind: "I am meek and lowly in heart" (Matthew 11:28).This attitude, this way of living, this heart...is not something we have by nature, it's something we receive in Christ. In Proverbs 23:26 God says "give me thine heart" and in Ezekiel 11:19 it says so beautiful: "And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh".Yes, the truth of John 3:30 that you've shared so much here on SI is outstanding, it's the key to a humble walk with God. It's the key to a life that reflects Jesus: "He must increase, I must decrease"!I just read this today in My utmost for His highest:"We must make sure that we are living in such harmony with God that as we proclaim His truth He can create in others those things which He alone can do"May we become like that, more and more...and to keep on topic...may your daughter grow more towards Christ, that He may be glorified through her! (Arielle...happy birthday :-P)And may you as a mother rejoice in her: "The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bare thee shall rejoice." (Proverbs 23:25)Thanks for posting and I love that poem! ;-) A work in progress,Paul

Wow, it's such a blessing to be fully given to the Lord at a young age. Praise the Lord for his faithfulness and your daughter's willingness to fully surrender to Him. It's an encouragement to all of us here.

As she attends public highschool and goes about her life in a messed up world, she lives a Christ-like life that doesn't waver. She looks at every situation, every opportunity, every relationship as a training ground or a mission field. As much as I have been able to talk with Ariele on the messenger and through email and hearing stories of her from you Chanin I really sense that she is given to God in such a beautiful way. I would love to encourage her as much as possible, she is a star shining in the darkness. What a wonderful example, I hope she feels special and know that God has specific purposes for her. Thanks for sharing this Chanin! what a great testimony.

Thanks guys! You know, I didn't want people to think I was bragging about her, but I do feel so blessed to be a part of her life. AND I have 2 other children that may or maynot ever be like her. She is unique- this doesn't make my other two any less, just different. I have to wonder if I'll have these same things to say about them. So I am just thanking the Lord for the blessing of one surrendered child for now. :-) In Him, Chanin

He is enabling his chosen ones to walk before him in righteousness. My oldest daughter is 25. She has experienced this same favor. It is a gift from God, Arielle. You are God's secret garden! Someday he will remove the veil and reveal you as his treasure. For now, grow, Little One, and bring God glory! We watch in awe! Happy Birthday, and congratulations, Mom!

I am wondering if it has something to do with the first born. hmmmmm. To encourage you even further, my second born has also walked in this favor. I believe it has somewhat to do with parents who humble themselves. My third child is still very young, but I believe he will also walk in this same path. You keep doing what you're doing, Chanin. God will take care of the rest. :-D Love ya. Dian.
