downloading sermons to the ipod

I am having a hard time downloading some sermonds to my ipod. for example. Art Katz, I would like to hear some of his messages. I can put them on my computer and make the file but I can't get it to download into my ipod.
Is it not possible to do that in some cases?

Forgive me of being too simplistic, I don't know how much you know. First, you need to download iTunes (if you haven't already) from:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Then you can either allow iTunes to find all the music on your computer (***this will also convert EVERYTHING to mp4); so I do everything manually. So when iTunes opens, stop the conversion if you don't want it to convert everything.

And then click on Music (top left, under File), it should be empty. Then drag and drop all your music and sermons into iTunes.

You will have to name your iPod and then click on that name, then a screen will pop up that shows "Sync" at the bottom right corner and it will sync to your iPod.... hopefully!! PM me if you have any more questions if no one else has a simpler way.

God bless,
Lisa

You need to open the file in iTunes which will then automatically add it to your iTunes music library. Many sermons downloaded from SI will have the title "SIDxxxx", the x's referring to a unique number. Many Art Katz sermons have track info already in the MP3 file which iTunes will recognize. If one does not, you will need to right click on the sermon in iTunes and select "Get Info...," or something of that sort, and manually enter everything so you can locate what you want to listen to later. Then to make sure it is added to your iPod you will need to make the sermon, or sermons, are among the items automatically set to sync.

I already have Itunes set up on my computer. I have it synced with my ipod. I have subscribe to a number of podcasts with it as well.

Somehow I did manage to get a coupe of Art Katz sermons on my ipod. I first downloaded it on my computer and did it through itunes intially when I did it I couldn't find it anyway. Matter o fact last night I used my ipod to go to sermonindex to listen to the one podcast that is at the top of the home pages. After I listened to it I found it was then on my ipod and I didn't even download it to it. Just weird!!!
That message was very intense and actually I was glad to hear what he said about the singing and such in that particular church but that kind of comment are thoughts I have always had in my head. I was surprised to hear someone voice it in church. Round of applause.

Hi,

Most sermons downloaded from Sermon Index will not show up with their proper title in iTunes because the metadata, things like the title, author, year of publication, were not added when the file was encoded and posted on the Sermon Index servers.

May I ask what you are running iTunes on? Mac/PC/Linux?

There are slight variations in how each one operates. When you download a sermon it will by default given a name with 'SID' and a four digit number. If you want the sermon to show up correctly in iTunes you will need to keep track of which is which and change the title of the file before you add it to iTunes otherwise the sermon will be added to your iTunes library with the name it was downloaded as.

The reason the sermon, "The God who Devastates" by Art Katz, synced to your iPod is because iTunes is setup to automatically check podcasts that you have subscribed to at least once a week and download the most recent one. The default setting for syncing podcasts with an iPod is to sync the most recent one.

This is true but when I right-click on a sermon and that first download window pops up....I rename the sermon then and there! And I also put the sermon in the correct folder. Here is a short example:

> My Sermons
>>> Derek Prince
>>> >>> Healing (with several sermons he's done on healing)
>>> Zac Poonen
>>> >>> 2009 Beginning a New Year

My sermons are better organized than my music!! LOL

God bless, hope this helped.

I have a pc windowsXP is what I am using.

When you are saving sermonds to the ipod are you doing it from the sermonindex website or through itunes?

When I do it through the sermonindex website I right clicl on the link and then hit download later. It think gives me a popup to rename the file and asks where do I want to save it. Itunes is not a given option. I just did Art Katz 'Man's petty kingdom' but I am having trouble getting it from an internet explorer file over to my ipod.

I wonder if I need to go through the Itunes tutor thing?
I found 3 other Art Katz sermons in a spot that I never would have looked. How they got there I have no idea. I found them by accident. All I can do is laugh at myself over this because it really is amusing..

Download the mp3 files into a folder on your desktop.

Open up iTunes

Go to File>Add Folder To Library

Find the folder with your files in it on the desktop and hit "Add Folder"

Find the files you just imported into iTunes and name them properly.

Your files will be imported into iTunes.

Now Plug your iPod into the Computer and 'sync' with iTunes.

You should now be able to see and play them on your iPod.

Hope this helps!!

I did manage somehow to transfer some of the sermons over to my ipod. It is still a work in progress.

One thing that really annoys me with my ipod touch is that while listening to any sermon I find that I cannot forward through the message or reverse it a little bit. If I want to relisten I cannot forward it through maybe the first 15 minutes and start from there. Sometimes I cannot even see how many minutes into the sermon I am.
Is there something I am missing?

I think I am starting to get the hang of this thing. I just don't understand why some audio goes to a podcast format, some go to the music format. I figured it would all be podcast.

And we pray O' God You will draw us closer to You that we may be ready to preach, pray, love & die when called to do so. Amen and Amen!

Usually, this happens to me when I'm listening to Times Square Church sermons. I thought it was something that TSC was doing to their sermons!
