I have been around this site since 2009, i've downloaded most of the 'must read' 'must listen' and 'must see'. I've hanged around this forum and I always wondered whether i should subscribe and post.Well, I have discovered a couple of weeks ago that the 'body of Christ' is hugely divided when it comes to Soteriology.
My aim is not to raise up another useless and harmful debate, I rather want to share the "compromise" i found between 'die hard calvinism' and 'die hard armianism'. Well, my postulate (since i have yet to support the same rigorously with verses) is that:
1- Calvinism REALLY REALLY fits when it comes to explain the "elects", "the christians" progress, i won't recall the verses about, we all know about them...
Yet, it fails to give consistent and rigorous answer when we point out the "backsliders" (it often have to tweak verses that plainly state such has depart from faith, etc.)...
example: check out the TULIP statements within the scope of an "elect", i'd agree at 100% (except for the Limited Atonement, i'd replace it with 100% efficient atonement for the elects).
2- Armianism REALLY REALLY fits when we have to "explain" why some "departed from the faith", again, i'm not gonna remind the verses supporting this assumption...
BUT, the pb with armianism remains when we are to "live it out" as a christian. It kind of leaves Christians with a HUGE AMOUNT of anxiety since they can definetely loose their salvation and then they have to be very very cautious. At some degree, it can even remove the Peace and the Joy, Jesus has promised us to give.
To put it simple, I think soteriologies (ANY soteriology) can be likened to maths functions or maths models which can explain, predict, define many things when taken in THEIR 'domain of function' and 'sandboxes' but yet fail to give comprehensive understanding of the whole thing.
Should this thread bring anyone to stumble, let it be locked or removed
