I have some concerns because Kenneth Copeland references Lake and Wigglesworth.
You really need to be asking the Holy Ghost what He thinks of John G. Lake instead of “people.” I’ve read about him from a book called “God’s Generals” a friend gave to me. From what I read, it sounded like he did his best for Jesus and gave his all. So, it really does depend on who you ask and what doctrine they adhere to b/c that will determine their answer. Sad, isn’t it? That someone’s reputation depends upon someone else’s doctrine? I think so anyway.
Please brother or sister, do a “Yahoo” Search of John G. Lake and see what is out there about him, then pray over it for yourself and ask the One who will lead you into all Truth for the answers. He has no biases!!!!

It doesn't become anymore apparent than it is now that we are definitely seeing the apostasy from Truth. The falling away first ....
Promoting false prophets and wanting the True gone is the spirit of Jezebel.
More than ever, I know we're living in the last days and surely ripe enough for judgment.
We really need to ask God for discernment because sometimes false prophets will use a persons name that they know true Christians support. They get more followers this way.
I know this happened to a true Preacher of the Gospel.

I have read some interpretation and some believe this is what this woman was trying to do, "Holy by association" so to speak.
I don't know anything about John G. Lake, so I will refrain making any comments on him but thought I would point out an instance in scripture that what you stated happened in Scripture.

I have been greatly blessed by your posts by Watchman Nee and other men of God, and at the same time shocked that you are implying by one statement that was taken out of context that John G. Lake was a false prophet and teacher.

I don't know where you got this from, but I have a 1000 page book on the life and teachings of John G. Lake, and there are two pages in the book where Brother Lake quotes from the gospel of John and the book of Psalms that you could draw this conclusion if you took the statements out of context.
If you are going to quote one line that John G. Lake wrote and on that basis call this dear brother a false teacher and a false prophet, then you should at least present the statement in the context that it is written.
I don't agree with much of what Kenneth Copeland teaches, and you cannot put John G. Lake in the same category as the WOF teachers that taught a prosperity gospel, and twisted the scriptures to support their views.
If you do not believe that God still heals, that He still performs miracles, in the authority of the believer, and walking in faith to have God supply every need, then you will certainly be offended by John G. Lake.
It amazes me that if there is anyone that walks in the power of God, in true signs and wonders that follow the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ that he is looked on with suspicion and skepticism, and that some men will go out of their way to try to discredit their ministy.
There are some on these forums that believe that God is no longer healing the sick, that the gifts of the Spirit and the office of the apostle and prophet have passed away, that miracles, signs and wonders are no longer for today, so in order to justify themesleves in their own unbelief, they will demonize men such as John G. Lake that have walked in the true power of God.
The healing rooms that John G. Lake organized in Spokane Washington were made a matter of public record. The healings and miracles that took place were investigated by the Chamber of Commerce. There was a committee that was set up that consisted of doctors, judges, and professional people to investigate the many testimonies of miraculous healings that were taking place. The result was that no false claims of these healings could be found and the investigation was brought to a quick end. Some on the committee were amazed at the findings, which supported the testimonies.
You are going to be very hard pressed to find anything in the life of John G. Lake that was unethical or dishonest, and by taking one sentence out of context and using it to claim that this man is a false teacher and false prophet is without any basis at all.
John G. Lake taught from John 10:34 "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" and from Psalms 82:6 "I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the Most High." He never did imply that we were a god, but he did rightly say that man was made in the image and likeness of God, that we are partakers of the divine nature, and that the purpose for every child of God is to be conformed to the imgage and likness of Jesus Christ.

Hi Brother Mike. I believe that any Saint of His on this forum could be used in the gift of healing or just by their prayer for healing for another and not even need to be physically near that person. Just GOD giving a Saint the word that He indeed plans to heal that one and we just agree with Him on that.
I read the link in the OP, where she quotes from Copeland's writings on Lake and then followed another link that a commenter on that blog gave to Mike Oppenheimer's site, then I also did a Search.
Mike O. does believe in healing as well and I'll only use this from his site and not make this too long with any others.
Here was another quote from Copeland's quotes of John Lake given by Mike, with his words between the quotes -

Lake believed this to be his deceased wife talking to him, this experience was like channeling today. Lake did not seem to believe the Word said contacting the dead is wrong.
He excused it by saying,
"Listen, it is not dragging spirits up, and it isn’t dragging some spirits down. There is nothing about 'calling spirits down from God in the Word'; only about calling them up out of the depths" (ibid.)
"Now I want you to fix this in your mind. The blood washed always go there [3rd heaven] and if you ever talk to anyone that is over there you will go to them. They are not going to leave the throne, "but they will say", ‘Brother, come up here’. That is the only way you will ever communicate with them" (ibid.)"

Has anyone ever read "The Beautiful Side of Evil" by Johanna Michaelsen?
I'd say that in regards to "healing" that her book would be recommended reading in these latter times.
It would take more than one book or 'healings' to un-do this that is quoted above and whatever else I read after doing that Search.
Copeland is getting these quotes from somewhere, as are the others who I read in the Search and I doubt that even Copeland would risk himself by making up this story about the blind lady channeling a man's dead wife. And neither would Mike Oppenheimer risk his credibility to hurt anyone for some rediculous reasons. Copeland is a full blown angel-of-light-minister but he's chosen Lake for a reason. Not only in this hearing from the dead, but for the dominionism beliefs also and other quotes found with that Search.
I Can't just go by one book by anyone or that they healed anyone. It's what they teach as a whole - their whole testimony of beliefs/teachings that reveal more than mere healings do.
I couldn't even call myself a skeptic, because I believe that Jesus said, "and greater works than these shall ye do" and I definitely believe that of His overcomers.
Anyone could do a search, as I did, by typing in 'john lake healer'.
I just don't see where we can say that these are merely quotes taken out of context. I found too many of these quotes when I did the search, to see if this lady who's link is in the OP was being fair or not. I needed more from other sources. No need for me to post what anyone can find by doing a search themselves.
I can't even defend Nee as being innerant, but I doubt that Nee would 'hear from the dead'.

I am a simple person and for me it works better. Too much to clog my mind and get confusing.
I read a while back from one of our treasured brothers, I am so sorry I cant remember who, saying that in the last days people will be laying hands on people, more than one, and people will be healed, demons cast out, people made whole. Glory to God. All sorts of miracles as Jesus said we would do.
The thing I love the most is he was saying no one will get the glory except God alone. There will be two or more praying and no one will know if it was one person the Lord used or the combination of those praying. I would pray this would be true that only God will be glorified in the last days, that the days of a persons name will not enter the picture. The only words on our lips with be Glory & Hallelujah to our God!
How I long for the day when there is not one man or woman who will be looked upon as having the gift of healing but as we sit at the feet of Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, not caring how or if or when He will use us as that is His business.
What of that beautiful honored saint in China who was in prison for 26 years mostly in solitary when asked when he was released, what was it like, and he said, "it was like a honeymoonwith Jesus". He was chosen for God Himself, for fellowship alone with Him. It is God's business, as we are created for Him. He will use us when He pleases for what He pleases. Glory.
There will be times when He will use me for healing. Most likely already has. I dont need to know. Sometimes I will prophesy, I will give a word of knowledge, a word of wisdom, or God will use my hospitality , or giving. The point is that I dont need a title for God to use me. Infact, I dont want a title - ever. If I were so honored to have one I would want to be known as one who sits at the feet of Jesus. I came home from Church one day in tears. The pastor said get to know your gifts and use them. I told the Lord I dont think I have any gifts. I was distraught. The the Holy Spirit said so clearly, my gift to you is to get to know Me, Jesus, you will fall in love with Me and bring as many with you as you can. That is my gift to you. So simple and I dont have to worry or strive or be anxious any longer. My Lord has spoken. And immediately I was full of peace and joy overflowing. Jesus set me free.
It would seem we are too focused on this and that and who is right and who is wrong etc. I know who is right and who is wrong. I know certain denominations have it all wrong. They are the obvious. I read Finney, Spurgeon, Mueller, Nee, Madam Guyon - Lots of others. I listen to Conlon, Poonen, K.P. of today. There may be a thing that comes up that I wonder about and I ask the Lord to show me and He does. But when I listen to these Saints, I allow the Holy Spirit to speak to me directly for what He wants to show me. And there may be a person I just wont listen to at all because the Holy Spirit is not taking me there. So, instead of looking at this and that, I would suggest that we each pray and ask the Holy Spirit who and when to listen to. I would say more of the Word of God and sit at His feet and learn of Him more than all the books of today. I think God wants to use us, whom He created for such a times as this, and not be cluttered and so concerned about this and that. It's about Jesus & you, Jesus & me. What is He saying to us in our quiet times is what really matters.
When we share what do we share? We share Jesus - the Word. Oh, yes, the Holy Spirit can use anything and anyone. In fact, the Holy Spirit used a J.W. to open the Bible to me. she was talking to me her doctrine, opened the Bible for me to read. The Holy Spirit shut her out and the Words in red came alive to me, she kept talking, I kept reading and hearing from the Holy Spirit.
Our discernment should be enough but today we want credentials, we want backgrounds, we dissect everyone. The trust level within the Brethren is almost nil. We are so worried about false this and that. I know there are a lot of counterfeits. But when a brother or sister is in err and the Holy Spirit has shown us that, we are to go bring them into the light. Pray for them etc.
There was a sister who was introduced to another sister last week on the river. Only names and a bit was shared. Then the Holy Spirit came upon one of the sisters and there was such a strong witness that the other sister was full of the Holy Spirit they just hugged and wept. Not much was said due to the awesome Presence of the Holy Spirit. There was no credentials, no telling of this or that. Just the Holy Spirit bearing witness of the love of Jesus, the Holy Spirit that dwelt in each. What a glorious awesome experience. I believe this will happen more and more as the days grow dark and the light becomes lighter. Glory to God. We will know in our spirit.
I am sure people can tear what I have written apart. It is okay. I know that I know it is me and Jesus and that is what I am concerned about. I trust the Holy Spirit will guide me and show me and will never lead me astray. Glory and thanks to my Savior.

When I couldn't even pray out loud with the Saints last night because I was so burdened over disagreements here of late I knew I needed to cry it out before Him for some sanity and an answer and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He is "shaking everything that can be and everyone" to seperate the truth from error - the wheat from the chaff - the true from the counterfeit - that things will be shouted from the housetops - that He desires to 'refine' us and our discernment and so on.
I don't fear it and neither should anyone else fear being brought under His Light.
No man is beyond examination and to stop The Body of Christ from doing so is not Biblical.
To tell people that they can't do a search and make up their own minds or come here with a website and ask our opinion is wrong.
Unity without Truth is not From Him - and neither is human love without His Truth. He Is the Truth and no man should be held so high that his past ministry or present should be intentionally hid from anyone.
We come to The Light - not flee from it - fearing man.
Dear Joyful Heart, you can see from the time of our posts that your post wasn't there when I hit reply.
My belief stands. Anyone who writes books or has any type ministry are to be tested - according to Paul and Jesus, etc.. Not only their teachings, but private life and any manifestations they bring forth in the spiritual realm. I've now read a lot of the things that most don't seem to see on this movement from the early 1900's and though I'm a pentecostal - very much so - much is being hidden from view for some reason. Not just on discerning this one man, Lake.
I love your heart and what you bring to this forum and I thank you for it all.
I won't need to post again to this thread. As was said - anyone of us can do a search and take which ever view of things that they feel they are comfortable with.

I think it may be good to take a breather here. I think Neil may have a point.
The brothers that I am in disagreement with are good brothers, and I do not question there love for the Lord or there sincerety in standing for the truth. I have that same love for the truth, but we can still disagree and not have a falling out over this. We are brothers and sisters in Christ.

I need to just clear up what I meant by "sanity", because that wasn't directed at anyone on this forum, but toward my own "depression" ('burdened') - that I could only bring to Him last night alone, for the answer that only He could give me, to make sense of what goes on, and as a whole, not just 'here of late' but actually on another forum and other situations & events that I see around the world in these days. I felt He answered as I stated above and I understand that our joy is mixed with sorrow in these days, for the world as a whole.

I would ask that everyone just read the article from the provided link. I didn't start this thread to bash on anyone. I posted this thread because I have heard through the grapevine that people here are more biblically sound than other christian forums.
I'm just asking for discernment here because I value the what you guys have to say.
Firstly, you have GOT to listen to some of Curry's sermons, before making any assumption, not that you did. Curry Blake does comment that some of John G Lake's actions & comments were also not correct.
The fact is, is that the stuff Curry Blake teaches truly works! My brother & I listened to his teachings & it simply eradicates all man-made doctrines & religious folks' teachings. It is found that there is about 94% success rate with healings, more than most ministries. My brother alone has healed more than about 20 people since adopting this GOSPEL.
When I first heard the teachings, the Holy Spirit inside me got so excited because it was the teaching that He agreed with! Just listen to his teachings! He was taught personally by Dr Sumrall, who had fellowship with Smith Wiggelsworth. He was taught by many leading & respected preachers, not that it matters so much.
Also, remember MANY preachers receive flack due to satan's lies & attacks. Satan so desperately wants to attack teaching that will cause him destruction & these teachings definitely cause him destruction.
I'm in this group on facebook, called JGLM South Africa (John G Lake Ministries) and is for South Africans who walk in these teachings. There are DAILY many testimonies of people healed on there. Miracles are happening. My brother studies in Cape Town & many times he would pray for sick if he sees them. He would command sickness to leave & it would. People with drug addictions were filled with the Holy Spirit, sore pains in the legs, backs, wrists, arms, etc were wiped out after a short rebuke. Maybe he would pray twice or more, & it would leave. Sometimes not, but that is just because of our minds that may have not been totally renewed in the Word.
So if you want teachings that WORK & want deliverance or healing I totally recommend these teachings. It is reliable. It is biblical. It is so true!
