MSNBC Host: 'You're Amending the Gospel'

sermonindex Mar 17, 2011

Martin Bashir may have just conducted one of the toughest interviews you will ever see on MSNBC.

Greg Hengler over at Townhall (who shares his thoughts on the ABC interview here), explains the interview was so tough it made Bell “squirm:”

This was one of the best interviews I have seen. Bell is visibly uncomfortable answering tough questions and being called-out for trying to dodge them. Note that the “solid ground” Bell stands on is his own feelings–not Christ, not God, not the Bible. What he presents is New Age spirituality with a little Jesus icon on top to really sell his all-inclusive message. His responses to theological challenges are all touchy-feelies. Hats off to Bashir. Sure wish all interviews were conducted this way. This is a joy to watch. ...

If I'm not mistaken Martin Bashir is a staunch atheist and even he calls out Bell for amending the gospel and making it more palatable for the masses. I just hope that Christians have the same discernment and willingness to stand up and ask the hard questions as this atheist does.

The only way anyone who has actually read the Bible could not see through Rob Bell's lies would be if they were already dishonest with God's word. False prophets/teachers are already being sought out by such who don't love the truth and are merely an encouragement in a self-delusion that was already built up (itching ears of 2 Timothy 4:3-4). I fear though that deception comes in much subtler forms than Rob Bell, so there is great need to be diligent hearing and obeying everything God has spoken (2 Peter 3:17-18). That said, it is wonderful that this man challenged Rob Bell publicly for the sake of many who are unfamiliar with the Bible and might have been given false comfort if he hadn't been critical of his book and deceptive answers; as well as a witness against the blindness of Bell's followers.

I don't like being contrary brother, but according to this article in the gaurdian.co.uk Bashir is a Christian.

No problem Areadymind - thanks for the correction - I must have been mistaken - I thought I read otherwise - oops
