When does information...become too much information?

Romans 16:19 reads like this "I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil" furthermore it appears that Jesus speaking to the church in thyatira was diametrically opposed to anything that exposes one to the depths of satan's (depravities). Sometimes graphic information or to much detail...can be just as harmful to pure minds. Even though alls you do is absorb the facts or glean the information made available (as it were) lately I've pulled up a few acquaintances and stopped them. Telling them whoa - that's too much information ...and I don't want to know. But this and this and this is going on in the world and its happening. Well maybe it is and what your desseminating as facts may be TRUE. But id rather not know the whole grisly facts and/or sordid story thanks. Too much Information can also be damaging to the mind. Even though In effect alls you are doing is listening to the unedifying story or facts of what so and so is doing. Personally I think you do have draw the line on some of these issues somewhere. You could argue a pure mind wouldn't have mind battles upon hearing graphic things or gross things or as the young ones now say...fully sick things. But yeah I'm not sure in light of thinking on pure, lovely, honest, things virtous and of good report. Etec how that argument stacks up? Anyway those are my thoughts for the day. For instance I can read Romans one and galations five works of the flesh. Which tells me what activities scripture forbids and condemns. Without painting pictures In the mind or assaulting the mind with overload sordid detail...

Not only that, but didn't the apostle say "its a shame to even speak of the things they do in private" even some preaching I feel gives out way too much detail! Anyway these are my thoughts for today. I certainly welcome yours! Even the fornicator in 1 Corinth five ...was explicit enough. But that's as much as we needed to know. I'm not into blogging. Not famous enough for that. But these are my concerns for the minute!!

This verse - Ephesians 5:12 which you quoted - also came to my mind when I read the OP. Too much info concerning the details of sin can become a stumbling block to our imagination. Is it not revealing that people who have been involved in the depths of sin love to share all the sordid details of this involvement? When at CPC I used to say we encountered all kinds of sin known to man and imagination. And these people loved to share these details - they were so bad I wondered how anyone could experience so many bad things and still live.

Ah, the blessings of following the LORD Jesus! We may have many trials and afflictions but they do not compare to the ones the ungodly encounter AND they have to face them ALONE! Think about that!

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Revelation 2:24 But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden.

Stay in the depths of Gods knowledge.

Stay out of the depths of doctrine of evil answering to Satan.

One diametrically apposed from the other. Rest in the Peace of Christ and His doctine of salvation, Grace and Love and stay completely away from the doctrine of devils.

Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. It all depends on the knowledge we approach and hear God that we might receive the wisdom of God that keeps us away from the depths of Satans doctrin, lies and resist all that is not of God. To whom He will reveal it.

Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

Mt 11:27 All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
Lu 10:22 All things are delivered to me of my Father: and no man knoweth who the Son is, but the Father; and who the Father is, but the Son, and he to whom the Son will reveal him.
Ga 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

Confess one to another, but don't spread it to the whole church indiscriminately for it is Gods business to discipline His Children and they are not sons. If I need a brother help and to be accountable to and pray with, he will be there God will send Him/Her. Otherwise all I need is the Son of God.

what do you mean exactly by doctrines of evil? Like when I started opening my mind up to the Calvinistic doctrines (by going to one of their church camps), a whole bunch of my grounding in the faith was shaken....leading to further doubt in many areas I never had a problem with b4 - i.e. the idea of God only loving some people, only dying for the elect, the interpretation that God decided who would become Christians b4 time and therefore humans can't do anything about it themselves. Would you say that is doctrine of the devil?
