How do you know?

I believe God answers our prayers and I believe He guides us in life for His will and purposes but how do I know I am walking in His will and purposes and not my own? How do I know with out a doubt that the answer I believe He has given me is truly from Him and not one of my own flesh? I don't know, maybe this is just an attack from the enemy in a moment when the hours seems dark but I do not want to doubt God or His faithfulness to me. I want to walk with Him, I want to grown in Him so desperately.

How do I know if I have made the right decisions or if I have just been walking in the flesh? There was a time not so long ago I was so sure, but today, right now, I need to hear from Him so much!!

God bless
mary

Mary Jane, We all desire to be of the right motive and will with the Lord. Your time with the Lord, asking Him to reveal your motive, should bring your answer. Whether you work from the flesh or the Spirit His convictions should reveal this to you. You have, as you know, a loving Father who desires you to walk in truth. I do not know another way of revelation other than prayer for this. Obviously scripture must line up but it will speak for and against true motive and will. The Spirit within you should provide your answer. One of the most difficult things I've found in prayer is to be honest and to ask God to expose every possibility that hinders me no matter the cost. He is faithful and prayer is our GPS in this world.

Dear Sister MaryJane,

For years my prayer has always been, Lord, lead me to do that which pleaseth Thee. Lately, I have been considering that it is possible to use that as a blanket approval for whatever I feel at the time. So, I have begun, as you have, to search for further assurance that what I do is not of ugly 'me/myself/I,' and instead is of Him. At times, I think this can be over thought and confusion can arise from too much self focus. Am, I making myself clear, at all?

From all I have learned of you, from your posts, is that you are sincere in your walk and do His will as best you can. I certainly would not fault you for anything. It appears you are operating on a much more even keel than, say, a couple of years ago. That is if the number of questions and matter being questioned in the posts is any basis of making that observation. I am avoiding the use of the word judging because I certainly do not want to give you that thought. I, in no way, can/do judge you.

I suggest reading the Psalms for an excellent example of walking with the Lord. Consider that even David sinned. It happened when he was taking his leisure on the roof of his Palace, instead of being in the field with his army. That is a lesson, to me, to avoid too much idle time. What is the saying? Idle hands are the devils workshop.

Love, white stone

Thank you white_stone

What you shared was very clear and spoke to what I am struggling with today. I agree with you that I find myself in real danger of to much self focus and I thank you for confirming that to me. I did not take your post to be judging at all, instead they were words I think I really need to hear and be reminded of. I will be reading Psalms and thank you for the suggestion.

God bless you
maryjane
