Satan will try hard as he can to turn people on Greg.... I am a sinner I have sat in rooms and listen to Greg only because my mother made me... as a rebellious teen I hated him I say teen but I was 19.... so barley a teen.... I didn't wanna hear what he had to say.... I asked myself one day Anji why don't you like Greg? .................... because he speaks truth and attacks our pride.... and then Satan whispers in our ears he is crazy.. he is outta his mind.... people can't handle the truth so they getup and walk out.... I am now 26 yrs old and I do not think Greg is full of satan or is crazy.... yes im sure even Greg has problems and is a sinner and has to ask the Lord for forgiveness just like you and me.... he who is without sin may cast the first stone.... but I tell you right now Greg don't judge anyone he leaves that up to the Father.....

I am starting to think there is some kind of conspiracy or agenda behind all of these Greg Violi threads, if my memory serves me correctly this is at least the fifth one. It just seems strange to me that people will post one time either praising Greg Violi or seeking to accuse him and then the people who orginally posted say hardly anything after that but to give their two cents about Greg Violi. Not really sure what is going on with it though and will give the benefit of the doubt on it until proven otherwise.

@mguldner: This is all part of the spiritual warfare. Since His ministry is about conviction of sin, repentance, discovering hidden pride, the devil hates this ministry with a passion.

the Anti-Greg posts are all from users, who are very new to sermonindex, and usually they never post again. But there are some long-time sermonindex users, who can give a very positive witness. so yxou can judge by yourself whom you will believe.

I can personally testify that I heard Greg hundreds of times repenting, even in front of our congegration for the sins that the holy spirit showed him.
And I know no other ministry which brings forth so much repentance and conviction. We had Art KAtz several times with us in Bielefeld (Germany), and he was the first one, who brought real conviction. But compared with Greg's ministry, Greg's ministry brings much more brokeness and conviction (I don't say this to make Art look bad, his ministry had another focus, i.e. Isreal, Endtimes...).

All the others ministries that I know, had brought not so much conviction as these two.

concerning the "hidden agenda": When I see someone slandering Greg's Ministry (or any other ministry, that I know personally) and I will speak the truth and I will not be passive. Everytime someone writes something that is not true I will speak against it, I have to.

Did you know, that the ministry of Apostle Paul suffered greatly, because people were slandering his name? He writes that "all in Asia" have left him. This is the work of the accuser and If I can fight it by speaking the truth, I will do it. I will do it with Milton Green, with Art Katz, with Paris Reidhead, Paul Washer, with A. W. Tozer (even he was slandered in this forum...), with Watchman Nee, etc. That doesn't mean that I believe everything that these guys are teaching, but it is not good to speak or HEAR gossip, slander and accusations.

I agree with you 100%, I don't believe Greg Violi has any hidden agenda or his supporters either but I find it odd the two very conflicting opinions being posted in multiple threads about the same guy. I have seen more negative than positive ones and so it causes me to draw the conclusion someone has deeply been hurt by Greg in some way and needs to go to him about it personally if they felt so strongly about what they posted rather than post it on a public forum trying to stir up disension.

I don't know Greg Violi nor have I listened to him preach so I would be an invalid judge of his character, heck even if I did know him and knew everything about the guy I would still be a lousy judge because I am still yet worse than he.

what we are experiencing here in Bielefeld through the ministry of Greg is this: for 2 years God is doing a work in our midst. 2 years ago he started with CLEANSING. (if you don't know what that means, than listen to this videos from R. Edward Miller

http://www.erweckt.de/predigt/115/183.html
(The Cleansing of the Leper)

God started to cleanse us, first many of us were delivered from demons and strongholds, many us of got free of pornogrpahy etc

then he convicted us of our judging and critizing, than he started to show us our pride and how we were thinking that we were more spiritual than other christians. We started as a house church with the intention "to make everything right and better" than others. God showed us our pride behind this motive.

since that time the manifest presence in our meetings increased more and more. Now I could see the same thing over and over again: there were people who visited our meetings, and when the presence of God drew near, the people got under conviction (sometimes you could actually see it with the natural eyes...). Then the people had to make a decision, either to confess their sin and humble themselves before god or remain in their sin.

Everyone who visited us and would not confess the sin at the point when the holy spirit gave conviction turned somehow against us. that is the truth. everyone who lives godly will suffer persecution.

I agree with you, it's the same thing from time to time, same uncapitalized post as well.

Peace!

I honestly think the reason we have all these threads on him is because people hit "Post New Thread" instead of "Reply." Perhaps if the "Reply" button was yellow it would get their attention better!!!

And/or maybe "IF" "Post New Thread" was on the opposite side of the page... just thinking out loud, not complaining Greg!

God bless Greg and all his work for this wonderful website!!!

who is Greg Violi?

Hi Neil, and Aussiedler,

I have desisted from posting in greg violi threads because Greg Gordon requested we should. However, as the topic is back again, and I have met him (travelled with him, spoken with him, been prayed for by him, watched and heard him preach in person and online), I do want to add one thing which is largely lost from merely listening to him on audio or video.

This: that the CROSS of JESUS CHRIST is CENTRAL to his ministry. His belief in the power of God to deliver is 100% founded upon the word of God in the Bible, the work of Christ on the cross, and the power of the Holy Spirit through a totally surrendered life which is utterly Christ-centred.

Neil, Greg and his family used to live in Salem, Ohio. About six months ago they began to relocate their whole family (wife, four daughters, two sons-in-law, grandchildren), to Germany, as they believe God is leading them. Greg talks a LOT about love, and how if love is ruling, everything else is right. This, obviously, precludes holding on to any consciousness of being better than another, which is pride, or any other sign of pride.

Because of the pride attributed to Satan in respect of the Fall, Greg studied pride in the Bible intensively, and discovered it is a little-preached major biblical theme, which accompanies Jesus' compelling invitation to 'learn' of Him, in Matthew 11:28 - 30.

He preaches for variable lengths of time, according as the Spirit leads. He IS a 'preacher', but his PRAYER ministry takes far longer after every meeting. He will take time with each person who requests prayer, until he has worked through whatever the Lord brings to him in regard to that person's needs. The foundation of the prayer ministry is a willingness on the part of the person begin prayed for, to repent, and to forgive. (Who can argue with that?) As other matters come to his understanding, he brings them forward. He doesn't force anyone to be prayed for, or to accept deliverance. What he told me to expect after he'd prayed for me, turned out to be precisely correct. This man understands spiritual issues, and humbly offers himself to serve God in the area of ministry for which GOD has prepared him, and in which God leads him.

He does preach about the power and effect of cross in regard to sin in the human heart, as well as a clear focus on Jesus Christ Himself, and His promises of deliverance to mankind.

He tends not to prepare a written note of what he might say, but rather depends on the Spirit to lead him through the scriptures which the Lord wants to bring to the attention of those present. (This is the kind of preaching I was used to in a housechurch, so I don't find it strange.)

Regarding his preaching, he warns that he believes the whole Bible. By that, he means with a childlike simplicity. He takes literalism as far as it can go, while not being ignorant of deeper spiritual truth. If his ministry proves anything, it is that those who OBEY the words of Jesus Christ WILL BE blessed in abundance - almost disproportionately to the obedience given.

Although Greg himself is not musical, spiritual music is a strong strand of how God and man are brought together for man to make a response to God in prayers of the heart through singing. This is always powerful when the Holy Spirit is in charge. Greg strives to be in obedience to God continuously, just as many men of God also strive.

Part of his testimony is a past season of many tears, as God showed him the pride in his own heart. He is in earnest about God the whole time. In fact, I hesitated to come back posting on SI because the extent to which one feels one must emulate his quiet humility made me feel that posting could easily be interpreted as sign of pride, rather than an urging from the Spirit of God. Even praising God publicly could be seen as merely a show of religion; but the Bible doesn't support declaring Him only in private.

You can search for Greg Violi online, but remember, the prayer ministy is never videoed, and represents probably 75% or more of what he 'does'. This level of privacy gives God a lot of freedom to move, and people who want to be, really are healed and delivered permanently.

Just as a reminder Bro. Greg Gordon recently closed down a thread on this very topic. For those who may have missed it I am copying his comments:

"Saints,

I would ask that we do not try and publically promote or defame man but let their ministries stand for themselves. I have heard many concerns over the type of ministry Greg Violi ministers in but I have not been in meetings or read his books, etc. I did not feel led of the Spirit of God to add his messages on this website so that is where I stand.

Also to my knoweldge Art Katz nor Ben Israel fully endorse him either. I am locking this thread."

We would ask that this direction be followed.
