The Passing of David Wilkerson

F
flameoffire Apr 28, 2011

David Wilkerson, founder of World Challenge Ministries, has been killed in a car accident in Texas. Charisma News spoke with Dr. Wayde Goodall, founder of WorldWide Family, who verified the news. Goodall was with Wilkerson’s son, Gary, when he was informed of the fatal accident. “Today, the Kingdom of God has lost a giant of the faith. His life touched millions,” says George O. Wood, general superintendant of the Assemblies of God. “The Assemblies of God enjoyed a life-long relationship with David Wilkerson. He was godly, humble and represented everything that is best in a spiritual leader. Our heartfelt sympathy and prayer is extended to his wife, Gwen, and family.”

I am speechless at the moment. It is hard to imagine a world without David Wilkerson - the LORD has used him to encourage me more times than I can count.

One of the men of our times qualified to be called a father of the Faith. He left true fruit behind on earth, and am sure inherited much before the Lord.

My heat was saddened when I heard this news. Yet we rejoice our brother has recieved his reward in being in the presence of Jesus.

That was a shock. Never expected his passing that way, but glad it was fast. I feel grieved for his wife, who is probably suffering in more ways than one.

Here is a synopsis at CBN describing the crash with a link to the Church's website, and a statement by Carter Conlin.

I am in tears as I read this. Just yesterday, I was praying for him and was struck with the thought that his passing would be a loss to the worldwide Body of Christ.

We are praying for Gwen and their family.

An actual prophet leaves the earth. God bless his family. It really is like losing a brother. In the often mad world of Christendom, his was a voice that stood above the din. He walked with God, he heard His voice and he loved His presence and he spoke without fear or favor. Oh, but one can only imagine the glory he now dwells in forever. This man had a target on his back as did his family and he stood faithfully through all of it , always bringing us back to the cross and reminding us of the overcoming Christ...........brother Frank

Speechless with deep sorrow. Praying for his wonderful family and grace in abundance for them. And God help us all.

Heaven is celebrating his homecoming.

hear the Father whisper, “I am with you. I cannot tell you why right now, but
one day it will all make sense. You will see it was all part of my plan. It was
no accident. It was no failure on your part. Hold fast. Let me embrace you in
your hour of pain.”

Did the Father in heaven whisphered in his ears the above wrods yesterday? He must be!
