Your heart is filled with anxiety. All peace has left you. You are gripped with fear of the apocalyptic time of destruction ahead. God your Father wants to help you; He wants to fill your heart with peace. Hear His cry, ‘O that you had hearkened to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river.’ In other words, accept the commandments of God as binding and do His will day by day. Then you will be one with God; this, in turn, will make you strong and fill your heart with peace. In times of great distress this peace will not leave you. It will be as an ever-flowing river, for its source is union with the will of God.
