I found the video to be very interesting becuase I was drawn to Calvary Chapel not through one of their chapels but through their radio outreach (Calvary Satellite Network.) As a new believer, I was nurtured so much by the teachings of Chuck Smith, Greg Laurie, Bob Davis, and others. At the time, I had a 40 minute commute to work, and much of that time was spent listening to CSN and being discipled. Sadly, the church I was attending (Southern Baptist) got rid of the pastor, who taught like many CC pastors - line upon line, precept upon precept.That incident, which convinced me that congregational leadership is not Biblical, and the fact that CC stands for strong Pastoral leadership lead me to start attending the nearest CC, which was 45 minutes away. I have now been attending that fellowship for almost a year, and I feel called by God to start a fellowship in my hometown, which has been confirmed by several instances.I do find some of the roots of CC disturbing, to be honest. Examining the life of Lonnie Frisbee really calls into question some of my stances on holiness. I side with Leonard Ravenhill on uncompromising holiness, but I also recognize that God didn't forsake David even after his terrible sins. I guess God bases His forgiveness not on whether we sin or not (because we cannot escape sin while in this fleshly tent), but what we do when we sin. Do we pour out a Psalm 51 to God, or do we just keep on sinning our little hearts out, using God's grace for the occassion of the flesh?

I have now been attending that fellowship for almost a year, and I feel called by God to start a fellowship in my hometown, which has been confirmed by several instances.Brother that great that you found this site and are able to share your experiences. I am personally been a part of CC in the last year and I believe God has me there for a purpose. I went to CC Bible College in California for a semester also and am doing correspondence courses now back here in Toronto, Canada. Where are you going to plant a church and start a new work for the Lord? I personally very much agree with your statements that alot of Calvary Chapel and even its roots are not perfect. But God really has given me a sense of what He is overall doing and that to bring some of these emphasis's into Calvary Chapel such as Holiness, etc is fine and there is alot of room for that. Chuck Smith's simplicity is something that is a good foundation and guideline to the teaching and discipling in the bible. As Leonard Ravenhill said "we have to be a different group of people here on the earth." We cannot be like the world, we have a higher calling, we have our residency in heaven. We need to be a "different breed" of people. I believe God has His remenant and is building it up.

Wow! I feel the sawe way about bringing the message of uncompromising holiness into CC. I live in Roanoke Rapids, NC and that's where God's calling us to start the church.I am also big on personal evangelism. I actually got to train with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort (Way of the Master) on how to witness, and I want to help equip the church to be proactive instead of just reactive.
