because of changes to pm on the forum

I have a question, as of yesterday there is no longer any pm function and Greg has mentioned wanting us all to communicate via email. I am not comfortable giving out my email for public view and honestly neither is my husband so I am considering the suggestion of creating another email account. My question is if I unsubscribe my current email account and replace it with another does that delete my account in the forum as well?

Thank you
Maryjane

Edit: to the sister who sent me the recent private messages(about my son) I did get it but I can not reply to it (sorry) I am trying to work out a way to honor my husbands wishes and communicate via email with you.(smile) Just wanted to say thanks for the prayers and Lord willing will be in touch soon (smile)

Too bad there is not a PM only forum where people could PM each other and protect themselves.

Does such a thing exist?

I'll search around.

Is linking facebook up with our posts in the forums a good idea or is that going too far? Just thinking of other ways to PM instead of displaying an email.

You see, giving out your email is not just to the person contacting you, it's giving it to their friends and their friends friends etc.. Every time they send, lets say some bible message and they want all their friends to see it, they will send it to everyone that is on their list. Instead of it just getting a message or comment about a post, now we are being bombarded with unwanted email.

Some people love getting all kinds of email, I do not.

e-mail addresses easy to set up. Why not simply set up an address such as: myforumtitle@gmail.com or something like that and then use it only for pm's. You could give out that address on the forum. e-mail is as anonymous as you want it to be.

"to the sister who sent me the recent private messages(about my son) I did get it but I can not reply to it"

Maryjane, email me, if you tell me who this person was - I may have her email addy. You can see my email addy in my profile.

EDIT: On the other hand, am I betraying confidences by sharing an email addy?

If you check mark "Allow other users to view my email address" - I do not know if those are "registered users" or not. Does anyone know?

Can anyone see my email address? It is on there but I have the above UNchecked.

god bless,
lisa

twayneb,

Great idea. I just created one. SI.Julius21@gmail.com

If you prefix your handle with SI. then it will be easy to know what your email address is without even thinking. Most should not be taken if you prefix with SI.

Thank you!!

To UNTOBABES

Yes I am the Joan on the tape. You have not listed an email so I could not respond to you as this change has happened.

Maybe this could be a thread to make up for the curtailed contact?

On Sunday at 4:40 pm, I could not edit my profile to include my email. My comment sections says "email available by pm."

I trust Greg will change that in time.

Amen to everyone about setting up a special email account for online discussions etc that they feel comfortable giving out that is not for family and close friends. Some poeple will like that privacy.

Is linking facebook up with our posts in the forums a good idea or is that going too far? Just thinking of other ways to PM instead of displaying an email.

We are considering doing this for the profile pages to allow connecting of facebook and or Google+ to the accounts so the image, and personal info transfers over that is made public in those systems also. This will allow the PM feature of facebook or Google+ (once they have it) to work on the profile page. We are still praying though this and working through how this will exactly work.
