I copied this wonderful outline from the end of the book, "John Sung's Diaries". It is what he learned on his spiritual pilgrimage, my prayer is that it bless you as it has me. Some very nice truths are within it:Dr. John Sung’s Outline for a Spiritual Pilgrimage (Taken from the book, “The Diaries of John Sung”\t Pp.226-231)\t1. The church must be built on the following, in order to be immovable:\ta. Repentance\tb. New birth\tc. Holiness\td. Overcoming faith\te. Evangelism2. The three gradations of loving the Lord are:\ta. Understand God’s love.\tb. Experience God’s love.\tc. Filled with God’s love.3. Concerning thorough confession and repentance of sin:\ta. Those who thoroughly confess and repent of their sins are pillars of the church.\tb. The more holy one is, the more powerful his preaching.c. After one is saved, if he doesn’t constantly examine himself for sins, he will backslide into hypocrisy. d. If God hasn’t given me extraordinary power, its because I’m still unholy.e. Satan uses his most cunning schemes to deceive people into not sensing sin in themselves, and to belittle the impact of sin.f. Only those who thoroughly repent have a firm foundation for their faith.g. The reason I receive power is because I frequently repent and confess my sins to God and men.\t\tJohn Sung Outline (cont.)4. Concerning Faith:\ta. Faith is watching God at work.\tb. Faith comes from knowing God. The more one knows God, the more faith \t he has.\tc. We worry because we don’t have faith.\td. Faith is like fine gold; one gets fine gold when he receives faith.\te. The level of your faith determines the amount of work God does for you.\tf. Spiritual treasure is faith.\tg. The more faith, the more power and more spiritual gifts.5. Concerning spiritual communion:\ta. The born-again Christian has two wings- Bible reading and prayer-\t with which to fly to the Lord and obtain rest.\tb. Only by breaking through to God and communing with Him can the desires of\t the flesh be mortified.\tc. Prayer is a most joyous thing-don’t think of it as a laborious task.\td. Not by might, not by power, only kneel down as you walk with God-\t and watch Him work.\te. The thing satan fears the most is saints praying together in one accord.\tf. Praying together in one accord is the primary stepping stone to revival.\tg. Prayer is utilizing the angelic hosts to complete the work of God.\th. A church will die for lack of prayer. When the Lord comes, for sure many\t people will bitterly regret not having prayed enough while they were on earth.\ti. if you don’t watch and pray, for sure you will fall and fail.\tj. Pray! Pray! Henceforth our work is the work of praying.\tk. Many evangelists emphasize work and not prayer, therefore they will fail.6. Concerning preachers:\ta. Whether a church is revived depends on the kind of preacher it has.\tb. Many preachers have eloquence but lack experience.\tc. The conduct and life of a preacher is more important than his preaching.\td. If a preacher is not baptized with the Holy Spirit, he may as well not preach.\te. What churches lack are good shepherds. If there is real spiritual food, the sheep\t will come.\tf. If its preacher has the power of the overcoming life, the church would be able \t to stand on its own and support itself.\tg. The more willing you are to shoulder the cross and the more humble you are,\t the more God will use you.7. The secrets to church revival:\ta. Thoroughly confess and repent. Doing away with individual and church sins\t gets the Spirit to start working.\tb. Pray earnestly in one mind and one accord.\tc. Seek the filling with the Holy Spirit, in order to obtain power from above.8. Concerning suffering:\ta. Great hardships bring great revival.\tb. Believers who overcome amidst suffering, are the good seed.\tc. God’s workers who have been trained through suffering are the \t ones God uses the most.\td. God uses suffering to make me learn humility, so that I wouldn’t lose\t my effectiveness.\te. It’s easy to be edified according to God’s will; it’s hard to bear the cross\t according to His will.\tf.The harder life becomes, the sweeter it is.\tg. The more I suffer, the more benefits I receive.\th. God’s blessings are hidden in tribulations.8. Concerning suffering (cont.)\ti. The timing and amount of suffering you encounter are carefully predetermined \t by God. He lets us suffer when He deems us worthy to suffer.\tj. The life of a saint is like that of an olive; the more it is pressed,\t the more oil is produced.\tk. It’s only after experiencing suffering that we can appreciate the plight of others\t and comfort them.9. Concerning testifying:\ta. Every believer must be led to the stage where he testifies to others.\tb. The emphasis in preaching should be on personal experiences and \t testimonies. They are the most inspirational, also the most blessed of God.\tc. By letting the newly saved testify from the pulpit not only greatly glorifies\t the Name of the Lord, it also stimulates the audience to love the Lord more.10. Concerning family worship:\ta. When the large structural church buildings are torn down,\t believers will serve and worship the Lord in their homes, and \t these cannot be destroyed.\tb. The greatest joy of parents is to bring their children before the Lord.\tc. Using your own ways to discipline your children will fail.\t See how Hannah gave her son Samuel to God for His disciplining \t which is far better than anyone elses’.11. Concerning SELF:\ta. Be dead (to SELF) while really be alive; don’t be alive while dead.\tb. Our greatest enemy is SELF.\tc. The more I recognize my utter depravity, the more I appreciate the \t loveliness of God. \td. Only after SELF is thoroughly crucified can a church be united and unified.\t11. Concerning SELF: (cont.)e. That which robs God of His glory and comes short of His glory is SELF. When I first caught a few “fish” I knew enough to give the glory to God. After I started getting many “fish”, I began to rob God of His glory by bragging that I was an old hand at catching “fish”:-such is the true nature of man!12. Concerning the filling of the Holy Spirit and His gifts:\ta. To be filled with the Holy Spirit is the greatest need of today’s church.\tb. Prior to being filled with the Holy Spirit, one can only carry a person\t into the Kingdom on his back, step by laborious step. After being filled with the \t Holy Spirit, he has the power from above, whereby God himself transports \t people into the Kingdom by the carloads.\tc. The purpose of being filled with the Holy Spirit is to give you power to \t witness for the Lord. Your most important pursuit should be for \t holiness and love.\td. Of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the greatest is love, the least is tongues.\te. Every person who is filled with the Holy Spirit should have at least two gifts of\t the Spirit: love, plus one of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corin. 12:8-10)\t It’s because each persons gifting is different, that all believers must be united as \t one. But without love, how can there be unity?\tf. Only by being baptized (immersed) in the Holy Spirit can I obtain power from\t on High.13. Let our mind be the mind of Christ. Love what He loves, rejoice in what He rejoices in, mourn what He mourns, hate what He hates, ask for what He asks for,do what he would do. Let His heart be my heart.\t14. When you trust the Lord, there is:\ta. No danger that can make you afraid.\tb. No burden you cannot bear.\tc. No circumstance in which you cannot sing.\td. No old habits you cannot put to death.\te. No situation that’s not for your benefit.\tf. No victory that does not come from His grace.\tg. No lack which God will not fill.\th. Nothing that can separate you from the love of God.\ti. No blessing that does not come from His Blood.\tj. No abundant blessings outside of Christ.
