question about prayer

My husband lost his job a couple months ago, and God has been so good, and has taught us so much. We really have seen His purpose: that is, for us to seek Him, not blessings.
Last week my husband had an preliminary interview for a job that seems to be really an answer to prayer.They are considering other canidates and will let him know if they want to go further some time in the next couple weeks. He came upon the job as the result of our opening up to the possibility that God may want us to be outside of the area we had assumed he might want us, and our relinquishing our boundaries.
My question is this, if we pray asking God to provide this job for my husband, are we praying for our will? Is it ok to ask for this in particular (He knows we want His will) or would that be seeking the blessing instead of Him?

Yes. The Lord is the one who opens and no man can shut, and shuts what no man can open.
With all we know we cover it in prayer and wait for the peace of God in our hearts. Colossians 3:15 has been a guide for me and others like it. If I am lacking His peace over a decision or direction, I know it is time to seek Him about a change.
May the Lord provide a good and strategic job. Amen.

If your question is one that is looking at a strategy to win God's favor, the answer is yes.

But if you are casting all your cares upon Him (because He cares for you) the answer is "no". Only you can decide.

This is a bit how this has evolve...been putting out resumes, and had gotten some response that hit dead ends, and we felt definitely like God has had control of that entirely, for His nos are as much blessing as His yeses. My husband and I have felt from the start the job loss was a blessing from Him, and had been praying only "thy will be done".
We had been putting out resumes in only two locations that seemed logical, and strangely, the other night, though it might seem obvious on the surface, it dawned on us that we were asking for His will, but limiting our job search by limiting our location. It seemed like good stewardship, because one location would have meant we would not have to move, the other was in an area close to family. Well, we opened up the job engine, and did a search that included everywhere for the first time.
And, oddly, there was this job, the perfect match. We were very humbled. We sensed that He was just waiting for us to say "anywhere". Well, he applied and heard back within 48 hours, and now we are in a waiting time, and we were wondering, well, we have not asked specifically for anything in particular, just His will, what ever it is.
We are still asking for His will, but it occurred to us, does our heavenly Father "want" us to ask for this job? I mean, does He actually desire us to ask. I dont mean this in terms of effecting the out come...we are asking for His will, and I believe we will get that, whatever that is, because He is faithful. What I mean is, does He find it pleasing to Him, is it glorifying to Him, for us to ask for this thing. Does my question make sense?

I understand what you are saying...

We purchased another house this winter....and God was very much involved in this entire transaction - all the way from buying it to selling our existing one. God is so good!
