I have started reading in Genesis and found something interesting I have never seen before. Man was made from the dust of the ground and God breathed Life into us, but with a bit of attention you will read also the animals made received the breath of life and also the animals were formed out of the ground so just like man the Animals God made were of the same substance.
Genesis 2:7 "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."Gensis 1:30 " And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds in the sky and all the creatures that move along the ground—everything that has the breath of life in it—I give every green plant for food.” And it was so."
Genesis 2:19 "Now the LORD God had formed out of the ground all the wild animals and all the birds in the sky. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name."
So what makes man special? We are even given the same command as the Animals Be Fruitful and multiply. What makes us special is our image, and I believe its something we often times take for granted even heathen were made in the image of God.
James 3:9 "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness."
This is what makes us different from the animal we have been made in the same image as the Creator and thus are full of his attributes to some degree. I suppose for me personally this is a fair warning in talking poorly about even an evil individual, they are branded with the Image of God. When we forget our humanity we deny everything God intended us to be.
What makes us different? What makes us special?
