poem: flower in the wilderness

T

in a lonely valley, where no creature has passed
grows a delicate flower sprinkled by the morning dew

it’s petals as soft as a gentle breeze upon a weary heart
and it’s color as deep and vivid as the evening sky

it’s fragrance is of late autumn and the essence of spring
and fills the valley floor in peace and tranquility

but no eyes have ever beheld
or it’s fragrance has anyone smelled

for it grows alone with no one to see
in a lonely valley, completely wild and free

free from onlookers and no need to perform
free from being tainted by the lures to conform

always true and noble and uncompromisingly right
forever pure, and admirable, and lovely in sight

and in this barren backdrop it’s beauty shines forth
as in the darkest of night shines the star of the north

and one may begin to question the utility of such a thing
for if no one is there to see it then all it’s beauty is for nothing

but it’s beauty is not based upon the opinions of man
but by whom it was created and by His sovereign plan

“for you created my inmost being”
“your eyes saw my unformed body”
“all the days ordained for me and written in your book”
“before one of them came to be”

and thus my desire is to be such a flower
hidden away in the wilderness upon a lonely tower

not to be worthy or big in the eyes of men
not to be defined by the world and it’s values and trends

but forever hidden away under the shadow of His wings
to offer my fragrance of worship to the one and only King

Yes tbsounde, the Lord covers His own and often in plain sight. In the biggest cities there can be found such lonely valleys. To be beautiful in the sight of the Lord is beauty indeed. God sees what men do not. He looks into the chest and sees the heart of man and he measures this beauty as only He can. Some we all know and yet will hear the words " i never knew,' most we have never heard of and the Lord will say " well done good and faithful servant," " I know you." Better be known by the Lord than for all the world to know us...........beautiful poem........brother Frank

It's a great poem! I especially like following line:
"but it’s beauty is not based upon the opinions of man
but by whom it was created and by His sovereign plan"

I think this is very beautiful and meaningful!

A flower is something precious and can be a great metaphor for many things and feelings! I often buy flowers in York ( http://www.serenataflowers.com ),
because I really have a weakness for flowers!
