women and the church

This post is in reference to a class teaching I have to do for a women's studies class towards the end of the semester. The chapter I am using is about women and religion. With this I want to poke at some of you on the board and get your input and maybe links I could get some information from.

Essentially I would like information on women and their roles in the church. Are they equal to men, are they not equal to men and why? How does that compare to the feminist movement going on today and does it agree with what the church is teaching or should teach?

I would recommend starting with the article by Zac Poonen, God Needs Women, https://www.sermonindex.net/modules/articles/index.php?view=article&aid=18297. It is an encompassing sermon and covers most areas. You will find there are somethings he teaches held in common by most churches but he also covers many things neglected because of the cloaked feminism rampant in the church. This topic has been discussed at great length on SI. You should be able to find several very useful threads on the topic.
