Others May You Cannot - Tract By Leonard Ravenhill w/ Markings

sermonindex Sep 25, 2011

Saints,

This is a wonderful scanned tract that was actually marked by Leonard Ravenhill and has now been scanned and sent to me. I trust it will be a blessing to many on the site here who view this thread. Do feel free to print these out and read them. The tract is by a puritan author: G.D. Watson

Actually George D. Watson was an early Holiness minister, saved while serving in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War.
His biography can be purchased at:

I have personally read his biography and can recommend it as good reading. I have also read many of his books, which are good reading.

Thank you for clarifying about the author brother! I hope many get to read this short tract, it could set many free to follow the Lord fully and not worry about others but their calling with the Lord.

It was probably April 1992. I was getting ready to leave CA and move back to NY where me and my future wife were gonna start our new married life. I was invited to preach in our youth group. I was 27 and still going to the youth group. More than half of us were over 18. It was an already 'on fire' group where there was a lot of preaching on repentance and separation and intense prayer. But I had just read 'Sodom Had No Bibles' and felt burdened with preaching a heavy message as a departing message. I felt there were issues that God wanted to confront in our group. God was also speaking to me from David Wilkerson's [who would be my pastor a year later] messages. I was feeling heavily burdened by what God put on my heart to share. I called Leonard Ravenhill and shared with him how his books had stirred me asked him for prayer. We did not talk long but he struck me as particularly gentle and humble. He said in his native english accent 'bye bye dear brother'. Not a few days later, I received a package in the mail. That tract that I scanned for Greg and a book by Michael Brown called 'The End of The American Gospel Enterprise'. Brother Len had written the forward in that book. I was touched and humbled by his gesture and realizing whom I had received it from. Later I would come to hear Michael Brown visit and preach several times at TSC.

Interesting that some said Bro Len never saw the revival that he was praying for in our generation before his passing. Among other things, I can say that he has stirred many and lit the flames for many and has sewn seeds that will reap a bountiful harvest.

In memory of him...Heb 11

32And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Did you know that it was Bro Len who sent David Wilkerson a tape of Carter Conlon?

Thanks so much for posting this Greg.

I remember Paul Washer talked about this track that he received from Brother Ravenhill. I always wanted to see what it had to say.

Thanks again!

A powerful reminder! Let us not forget these things and grow in our desire to Honor the Lord alone and not men.

Thanks so much!
Too bad the design isnt to appealing nowdays, its a bit err dated.

Not that that is a bad thing! The truth it contains of course is eternal and precious!

I think I will ask a friend to redesign to make it look nice to this generation haha

Ill post it up later

Do you know if it would be okay if we could remake the tract, but keep the exact text, and put it for free as downloadable and printable tract on the web, if that would legally be acceptable with mans / copyright laws?

This tract, in my opinion, is great to give to people in Church, do you know of really reformed tracts like this one, for people out of the Church?

I know I am going to have to make some, but I haven’t yet, and I need tracts now.

Thanks and God bless you and keep you!
