Homesick for Heaven

M

An excerpt from my prayer journal: Dear Jesus, I want nothing but You. I long for my heavenly home. This earthly life is monotonous, tedious, and discouraging. There is nothing here that my heart desires. My only desire is to be in Your presence praising Your Holy Name. O God, I will stand before You someday and my life will be reviewed in all its inglorious detail. I thank You that I will be clothed in the righteousness of Christ. I probably will not qualify for any reward as my works are chaff, stubble, unrighteous and they will be burned, I'm sure. I don't need a reward, I just want You. That is all the reward I desire, just Jesus. Oh, how I long for that day, the marriage supper of the Lamb, my wedding day when I will be united with my heavenly Husband forever. I wish it was today. I am sick of this sin-sick world, my selfish heart, my corrupted flesh, my mortal body, my failure, and my separation from You. I worship You now but it's not enough. I want to fall down in Your presence in my heavenly home. O my God, this earth is not my home. I'm just passing through on a heavenly mission that I fail at daily. I'm tired of being a failure. I just want to go home. I am so homesick. When can I come home, Jesus? How much longer?

Just wondering if any of you feel the same way I do?

You spoke my heart today; feeling very sick of this world and homesick for Heaven after reading today's (and every day's) headlines and after dealing with my own issues. I too fail every day so what good is it to keep me here. The headlines today of all the wickedness and violence in the world just tear at my heart. These people don't want Christ so what good is it to tell them about Him? I know i will get rebuked for saying that but that is what i feel lately...

Amen brother. This life is fleeting and passing. We will all be soon with our Master in heaven. 50 years is but a breath. We will be with God for eternity. Let us remember that heaven is our home and this earth is a foreign country.

Such a mindset will allow us to please God and be His body on this earth.

Thank you, swornservant for that reminder!

"What a day that will be,
When my Jesus I shall see,
And I look upon His face,
The One who saved me by His grace;
When He takes me by the hand,
And leads me through the Promised Land,
What a day, glorious day that will be!!."

My heart cannot contain my love for Him, my precious Jesus.
