Embracing Judgment

I was reading in Genesis and thus far my study has reached Noah. As I read the conclusion of the story of the Ark, I found something interesting.

8:21 "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done."

If you remember at the fall of man God said to Adam, Genesis 3:17"...Cursed is the ground because of you;"

As I read the account of Noah and how long they actually remained on the Ark I was impressed to find that Noah didn't just spend 40 days and nights in the Ark BUT an entire YEAR! (I was impressed by this because many times we teach our children God cause rain for 40 days and nights an that's it) To spend an entire year on a boat is quite a long time.

I also noted the creatures of the ocean weren't cursed with good reason, they could swim BUT you also never see God curse the sea, just the ground where man dwelt.

So I had to ask what on earth was God doing for a whole year? I came to this conclusion. God was purifying the Earth of the curse He placed on it because of Adam. God's judgment poured out for 40 days and nights and for the next 325 days God would use the water to purify the Earth. What does this say to my heart? God's judgment is one that is terrible and justified but it also has an element of Purification, Mercy, and Redemption.

God also removed the curse of Adam on the ground itself, 8:21 "Never again will I curse the ground" So any problems with the Earth is not due to God's curse but due to the fallen man that dwells there, We are the curse IF we don't turn to Christ and do things His way, God continues to commission us as He did Adam to "fill the earth the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

We are responsible for the Earth, but we can embrace judgment from God know it is good, justified, perfect, purify, redemptive.

God will send a great judgment on the United States and the rest of the World and it will be the greatest cleansing the Earth as ever seen or known and God's people will be protected in the Ark of Christ Jesus, maybe not physically but most certainly given the strength of withstand the enemy as He always has.

This is just a technical note, it doesn't mean much.

But, if we read in Genesis 7v11 when Noah got into the ark, and the day he actually left the ark, Genesis 8v14, we can see Noah and his family were in the ark for well over a year.

Oh thanks for the correction, accuracy is very important whether a technical note or not. :) Either way though, I remember in Sunday school as a kid, you got the waterdowned version of only 40 day and 40 nights, not to mention there were more than two of every kind of animal, on certain animals Noah brought 7 of each. Ask a kid in Sunday school and they will automatically shout 2, Heck ask the average congregation and they will shout 2.
