Shane Claiborne?

Hello All,

Anyone have thoughts on him I am a little sketchy about him. I loved him before I was saved and as a new Christian. But as I am growing in Christ, a lot of his teaching seems very "good" but not gospel centered and a lot more humanistic centered to me. I know friends who follow him and I think it is hindering their real spiritual growth because they are so caught up in humanitarian efforts than Christ Himself.

Its hard to say because technically what he says is "right" but it just feels like something is off.

I just heard him now after seeing your post. I think he mainly focuses on serving people and seeing Christ in our service to them. Both Faith and action are equally important in Chiristian life. But the main thing is personal testimony, there are preachers like Zac Poonan who give more emphasis on internal testimony. And there are people like Shane and KP Yohanan, who give importance to service and putting a burden on people to serve others. Jesus did both, he served people and also pearched to save their souls.
Personally I believe that any service I do should come out of my Godly life rather than human emotions. If you don't have a Godly life then your service is of no use.

Shane is a vital Trophy of Grace, used mightily by God in one the most hellish ghetto's on Earth , in Philadelphia. Shane reminds me very much of another dear brother, Patrick Ersig, who labours for Jesus in skid row LA, which resembles a really nasty futuristic movie, and these two brothers in Christ, are among the helpless and harrassed sheep. i always pray for them.

Praise God, I love your heart brother Neil. I've never heard of Shane before but I know that the prayers of the saints are vital to all effective ministry; I'm glad that you are praying for these dear brothers in Christ.

In Christ,

Ron
