Books on the "flesh"?

This is a request for solid, weighty literature that discusses our "flesh" or sinful nature, ideally in the form of a book primarily about this topic.

So it would cover, e.g., what the flesh is, how it operates, what it desires, God's perspective on the flesh, how to fight it, the views of scripture about the flesh, etc.

I am having trouble finding anything because "flesh" is a common word, or used to be :)

Any book recommendations are welcome, and a little blurb about the book will make this thread much more useful to posterity.

I believe that Watchman Nee is still the very best on this topic.

I'd recommend highly, all of these books and then read whatever others that you'd like by others.

I'd recommend the New Testament epistles of Paul, which seem to teach implicitly that our flesh/old man/old nature/old self has been "circumcised", "cut away", "crucified", "taken off", etc...(GAL 5:24, ROM 6:6, COL 2:11, COL 3:9).

However, this 'flesh', has left an imprint, or old programming behind. IT itself is dead. However, we have learned to live according to it up until the moment we receive Christ. It is therefore necessary that we renew our minds to think in accordance with this already established reality.

What Nee brings forth is that, we could be serving GOD in "the flesh" and most folks wouldn't even recognise that the good deeds, words, etc. that are coming out "from them" are coming from flesh and not Spirit. "Flesh" is not always sin or an obvious 'sin nature'. We could "serve GOD" till the day we die 'in the flesh' and find out when we See Him, that it was all "wood, hay and stubble".
That's why I recommend one of the very few that go into this other 'seemingly nice side' of what is actually derived from the natural-man, otherwise known as 'flesh'.
He wants all the Glory and not just from our mouths, but by our dying-to-self/flesh and allowing Him to do whatever 'good' through us. Yes - the workings of or in the flesh can seem very 'good' in our own eyes.

All of His Best to us all.
