My dear brothers and sisters,
It is true that God has called us to something much higher and greater than what man has established with his own hands. Indeed, we have been called to become the fullness of Jesus Christ (Eph. 4:13). We have not only been called, but equipped to become His fullness. Anything short of this falls short of His command, equipping, and expectation.
Yes. The church at large is a work of man's own doing. Jesus Christ has birthed us individually by His Spirit, but man has built with wood, hay, and stubble upon His foundation. It is most obvious to see this in the institutional church system, and that has been the case consistently throughout church history. History makes clear that the mainstream has never been truly right about the main things. But corruption and contamination are not only found within the institution. Institutionalized hearts are found everywhere. Hearts that have established themselves in a kind of faith that is not alive may also be labeled institutional; but it is only those who abide in Him that possess living faith, bearing fruit.
Do not make the mistake of thinking God is satisfied with what we have done with "church." He has called us to allow Him to build His house into the perfect (complete) man, lacking nothing - even the full measure of the stature that belongs to Christ. Let us surrender to His will in this matter, and we will see Him as He really is!
