what's all this about such "vs" such?

I know this might appear a little bit off key, but as a non-american i really really want to ask this, here it goes :)

- why do "you" guys feel the need to always versus a person with/against another person... XD now, don't get mad but that's pretty much what i've seen on youtube or any other christian materials, and even here... like the "house church" vs "institutional church", "Jesus" vs "Napoleon", etc. i mean, lol. i hardly imagine Jesus boxing Napoleon... can i gently offer a word of rebuke here :D you're so influenced by your culture...

Anyway, I love SI, I love God, I love America, you're not perfect, i ain't either, God loves us! and that's the greatest news i've ever heard so far...

Great question, looserchapel. I see you're from France; in your country, maybe the word "versus" conjurs images of a boxing match. In the USA, this is rarely the way it is used in normal conversation. Although that is a valid definition, there is more than that one. We usually use the dictionary definition as follows:

"Versus: As compared to or as one of two choices; in contrast with: example: traveling by plane versus traveling by train."

In this aspect we find a real bout, a real contention and confliction, and a real effort by both sides to emerge victorious. The winner here trumps all. This is the only legitimate and decisive fight with which we should be concerning ourselves; for if we are negligent and fail in this ordeal, it matters not what the outcome is with all the other pittings.
