Casting Nets or Casting Stones

Casting Nets or Casting Stones
Jim Newsom

"If you don’t become a reconciler of the lost, you will become an evaluator of the saved.

There is something inherent in our new nature that wants to see people get right with God and if we don’t direct it at the lost, we will direct it at the saved - and instead of pursuing sinners you will spend your time policing the saints.

All of us have been called to be "fishers of men" but when those who are called to fish don’t fish, they fight.

When energy that was meant to be used outside the church is used inside the church the result is explosive.

Instead of casting nets, we cast stones.

Instead of reaching the lost, we become critics of the saved.

Instead of extending helping hands, we point accusing fingers.

Instead of helping the hurting, we hurt the helpers - and sadly the lost go unreached, the poor go unfed, and the confused go unconsoled.

But, when those who are called to fish, fish, they flourish. Souls are reached, lives are changed and the world is impacted."

I Love this! You know, I heard a Pastor say once, you have never been beat up until you have been beat up by a Christian.

Funny in a way, but sadly true...

@ El-Bethel-- Well said and spot on!

Those intent on correcting what they perceive to be doctrinal errors in others rarely ever actually reach the lost for Christ. A true misappropriation of energies!

Thanks for the post El-Bethel. We could use a lot more like it!

When I see stories like this, my first thought is what Jesus reaction was to the accusers of the woman in adultery the Scribes and Pharisees brought him.

When Jesus had lifted up Himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, "Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, "Neither do I condemn thee, GO AND SIN NO MORE." We should all be more like Jesus.....instead of more like the the Scribes and Pharisees....
