Prayer please very cold

M
MaryJane Nov 3, 2011

We are among the many here in CT that still
Have no power. It's been cold and now a cold front
Is moving in to drop the temperature even more
Please pray for us. Pray for the safety of the workers and
For the elderly we have already had several people
Die trying to keep warm. Trees are everywhere
And power lines are just laying in the streets.
God is good and we trust in Him in all things.

My cell service is working only part time now so
Many of us feel very isolated, but still I know the
Lord is here!

God bless
Mj

May family and I once spent several days in the winter without any power or heat. We lived in an old drafty house built in the 1930's with literally no insulation in the walls. We all, my wife and three little children, climbed into the same bed. Even with all the blankets, our faces were still freezing and we could see our breath in the candlelight. Didn't get much sleep either, as we were constantly woken up from all the shivering.

I'm praying ma'am! May this end soon...

Sincerely,
Doug

Praying with you MaryJane. Ours came back on after 3 days this week. I was fine but was so worried about my Dad and other seniors that I know in town.
I know that they have teams from many other areas, but that's no comfort until it finally comes on.
The LORD strengthen and send extra help to all those who are in danger of hypothermia. GOD have mercy on all.
I used to live in CT and have friends there.

I pray His Presence is tangible for you and the power is restored Soon, dear Sis.

Keep us posted, when you can.

Thank you all very much for the prayers and encouragement. We do have our power back on now. It came on late Friday night. Please if you feel led to continue to pray there are still thousands with out power here in CT and they do not expect it to be fully restored until Wednesday. For some that will be twelve days with out power or heat. There are many elderly who are really struggling as it gets so cold here at night. There is still a lot of work to be done, trees are still blocking roads and some people lost their homes as huge trees came crashing down on them.

For myself living for seven days with out power or phone service was really a growing experience. On the practical side I have learned a few things on how to live daily with out lights, heat, and refrigeration. Makes me very thankful and appreciative of how people in other countries work so hard to just live daily with out all that we have here in this country. People here at first were panicked because many of the gas stations where not running so we had very long lines at the gas pump and short tempers. There was a sort term run on some of the operating grocery stores but I will say that for the most part people in general were helpful to each other. It does give me moment for pause though, I wonder how these same people(including myself) will behave when things truly are bad for an indefinite period of time.

As I spent time in prayer one of the things I struggled with the most was at night, the complete darkness, it was very unsettling to me. I prayed often, just knowing that the LORD was there with me was such an encouragement to me though. Again I am reminded that only the light of the LORD can truly cut through the darkness in this world. I know the LORD has used this time to really help me grow and rely on HIM. I also learned how really important it is to be ready, to live every day ready and waiting on the LORD. There is not a time when we can allow ourselves to get comfortable with the world around us.

God bless
maryjane

Praise the Lord that this time of difficulty has passed, and that you are the stronger for it! What Satan meant for evil, our Great God has turned for good.

Just as He has promised...

Doug
