Do you know why we Christians don't keep sabbath?

I do have a question then. When Paul received input from the Jewish Christian counsel in Jerusalem for what laws were required to be kept by the new gentile believers they made no mention of a specific worship day.

The only requirements were as follows- from Acts 15.

23. The apostles and elders, your brothers,
To the Gentile believers in Antioch, Syria and Cilicia:
Greetings.28 It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements: 29 You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from sexual immorality. You will do well to avoid these things.

It appears that the "apostles and elders" listed in verse 23 had no belief at all that the gentiles should be entreated to follow a one day emphasis on Saturday worship. In fact we find later that Paul tells the churches to regard ALL days as unto the Lord... not just one. It seems that an undue emphasis on Saturday worship limits ones ability to focus on and enjoy God the other six days. Worship and commune with Him every day..not just Saturday... or Sunday for that matter!

Uh.....yeah. Well.....I don't know what to say......I am not "confused" nor did I give you the King James translation.

In fact I, or a great many of people on these forums, can give it a direct translation from the Greek ourselves. I am not sure why you think that translation you used is the "correct" English rendering except that it is one you have found to back your point. What translation is that exactly?

I can say of a certainty that your information on this is inaccurate. Those verses in the original writings do not say at all what you are insinuating. They just simply don't. If you are still wanting to maintain your position then I might humbly suggest taking some Greek classes. It is important that we make certain we are understanding what the Holy Spirit's original intent was in the words. It is not important that those words fit into our preconceived theologies.

In a nutshell, what you are saying is Paul's words (even though it's mistranslated) supersedes that of the Almighty Creator. Yahweh. It just doesn't add up.

Hmmm...Supersedes? You seem to think they contradict one another. Do really believe Scripture is contradictory?

This verse is clear that it is not which about which day you set aside and furthermore that we should not tolerate being judged on such issues. The church calendar and the Jewish calendar vary and have had jump starts and errors through the dark and middle ages, so we can't be sure that Saturday is really Saturday and Sunday is really Sunday.

Brothers and sisters in Christ the answer to any question is found in the Word of God. There are plenty of scriptures in the new testament which guide believers and teach us that the certain of our worship is Christ Jesus our Lord. The day each believer chooses to do so wether it is on on a sabatth or a Sunday is acceptable to the One who we worship. He searches our hearts and minds when we worship. True the sabbath is commanded in the ten commandments , in Matt 12 v 8 Jesus tells the pharisees that He is Lord even over the Sabbath. In Colossians 2 v 16- 17 Paul says we should not judge each other regarding festivals,food,drink and sabbaths which are a shadow of things to come but let the SUBSTANCE IS CHRIST JESUS. The main goal for us a believers is to Love the Lord Our God with all our hearts and to love one another.Love does not seeks it's own but rejoices in truth and loves endures all things. When we look down on other believers who whole heartedly worship God on a Sunday, or Wednesday we who choose to worship on a sabbath are we saying that Christ did not lay down His life for that brother or sister? The word of God says what each of us believes should not cause another brother to stumble so by trying to endorse all believers to worship on a sabbath are we not causing those brothers and sisters to doubt their worship of Our Father on their chosen day. I believe we should worship our Lord Jesus Christ 24/7 hence for myself an actual day is irrelevant. The centre of Our Worship is Christ Jesus not the day of worship and He alone is worthy to be worshipped every single day be it a sabbath or a Sunday .Revelation 4 v 8 the living creatures do not rest day or night saying Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty, Who was and is and is to come! Hallelujah Our Lord Jesus Christ is worshipped forever and ever day and night!

Just to add to all these verses, I wanted to share the spiritual meaning of Sabbath. I as a Christian follow Sabbath. The true spirit of Sabbath is to rest with God and to do the will of God. This is what Jesus tried to say when he healed people which was God's will on Sabbath. But in Old Testament people were so busy with life that they did not have time to do the will of God in day today life. They had only Law with them which never guided them but only showed them what is Sin. So they observed one day not to do anything other than reading God's word.
Now in new Testament, God has given us Holy Spirit through which we are reconciled with God. Since we have the Holy Spirit, we have the law written in our hearts and we do God's will all the time. So it is no longer a day of a week that we observe as Sabbath but everyday is a Sabbath meaning we do the will of God everyday.
I go to Church to fellowship with other believers who do the will of God and to form the Body of Christ. I do not go to Church like how the Jews in old testament went to Synagogue, to do the will of God, because I do it all the time.

Great! Now comes the post after I have kindled a fire this morning to make my kids breakfast. Oh wait, does that count if the range is self lighting? One can get so confused making all the applications that come from this.

Christ seems to have shattered the efforts of men to keep such things as he expounds the depths of holiness and love. You say you don't commit adultery? What about the adultery you commit with your eyes and mind? You say you love your neighbor, then weigh it against a story I'm going to tell you about a certain Samaritan.

There are seven possibilities a week for worshipping and praising our Lord and Savior. May we take advantage of every one.
