There is one thing that I hate about current day Christianity and that is the standards that have been put into place where we have all been indoctrinated at some level to live up to and that is simply wrong.
Brother, your prayer is to have more knowledge of who you are in Christ. As the scriptures say,
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Grow in Grace. That is what He is saying to you and I.
I want you to sit up in your chair and take notice of what your doing.
Listen to the words of Paul.
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Let these words sink down into your spirit.
Believe it or not but this is the time to rejoice, why? because God's word is true. You've sinned and your reaping. You've cried out to God to forgive you and guess what, HE'S FORGIVEN YOU.
But you don't feel forgiven. The reason why you don't feel forgiven is because your still in the process of reaping what you've sown. If you continue following after the spirit this will eventually pass. You may have bouts of sin here and there, but don't let this deter you from crying out to God for forgiveness and in time and over time God will bring you through.
One of the worst tricks of the enemy is to think that God will not forgive you after you have sinned and sinned a great many sins.
Sometime ago I was keeping myself from giving my sin over to God because I thought that He was sick of me coming to Him over the same thing. Well, I had a rude awakening when He said that what I was holding unto was His.
He said in essence, "Why are you holding unto that which I have borne? I am the sin bearer not you. Don't hang unto something that I alone can handle. You can't handle it that is why I took it upon myself, therefore give to Me what belongs to Me."
I hadn't looked at that way before. It was easier to release it to Him. Why?
Because what I thought was the right thing was the wrong thing. I thought that my false humility was humility. God doesn't want us to hold unto sin, He wants us to repent of it and move on with Him. However, there will be times that we will fail.
Now, can I tell you something. Going through depression and oppression is normal in the believers life. The bible calls that "affliction".
Psalms 34:19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
This life is not easy, and if anyone says it is he is lying to you, but the dividends are eternal.
You will have bouts of great joy, other times sorrow, again other times contentment and again other times when your whole world will be taken away. But Jesus encourages us by saying,
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
God is holding no grudge against you. He loves you and wants you to know that you have been forgiven.
My prayer for you is to experience more knowledge of the love of God. We all need it.
If there is any consolation in this, I too am going through a depression, but I have knowledge under my belt to help me go through knowing that God loves me and when I fail I immediately give over to Jesus what rightly belongs to Him.
Now lift up the hands that are hanging down and begin to thank God for forgiveness even though you don't feel like doing it.
Ask and it shall be given to you. Ask right now for more grace and knowledge of Jesus. Keep asking and you will obtain.
