Children who die in infancy?

N
neemia Nov 15, 2011

What happens to children who die at birth or while they are very young in unchristian families? Where will they spend eternity?

L
Lysa Nov 15, 2011

They are not accountable at all. They will spend eternity with God.

God bless,
Lisa

I agree with Lysa... I would not venture to guess when a child is old enough to be accountable before God. Thats up to God, but infant or toddler obviously are not aware.

They sin! For we are all born in sin and in a fallen condition. Even an infant is a sinner. Thats our natural state. But I believe there is a certain stage at which they do become accountable.

God has revealed Himself to all men thru nature, etc so that none are without excuse. But obviously an infant is not capable of seeing that.

This is one of those things better left to God since the Bible does not specifically address it. No one here can answer this question pertaining to the age of accountability with certainity.

AMEN!

We cannot do anything to change its outcome, either. The Catholic church addressed this issue by stipulating that infants get baptized. We know baptism does not save - it is an act of obedience to the LORD that one submits to it. Babies do not have that ability. All they can do is cry, eat, sleep and soil their diaper!

We are close friends with a Catholic family... I call them "super-Catholics". They are extremely devout.

One time when their 5th child was just a week or so old she stopped breathing. Paramedics were called, and long story short everything was ok and she is 8 years old now. We were there when this happened...

Obviously as parents if freaked them out naturally, but it also scared the parents to death because she had not yet been baptised... and they were extremely scared that she might die without being baptised... and not get into heaven.

The mother was sobbing "she hasnt been baptised... she hasnt been baptised..."

I truly HATE Catholicism. It is an evil.

The original Catholic Church believed very differently:

"...and when a child is born to any one of them, they praise God, and if again it chance to die in its infancy, they praise God mightily, as for one who has passed through the world without sins.”

- Aristides' Defense Addressed to the Emperor Hadrian in 125 A.D.

That was pre-300AD... you're only talking about 2 generations after Christ. That was not the Catholic Church that formed after Constantine.

That is correct dear Brother. However, the early Church was truly "catholic", according to their own definition of the term. In those days, the true "universal" church was distinguished from all the gnostic false churches by their belief in the apostles' simple, straight-forward doctrine, and their literal obedience to the apostles' tradition and practices.

The term "catholic" (like so many other terms), was later assumed by others who saw the psychological value in continuing to use the mere term, but did not value continuing to agree with the early Church who actually coined it.

However, there is no need to quibble over this term.

The important thing is that we believe what the apostles actually wrote to us.

Be well Brother,
Doug

Nothing to quibble about, you are correct in that. That can be confusing sometimes, the double use of the term Catholic. I assumed you meant the Catholic Church as we know it today.

The term catholic church as mentioned by you, and in the creeds does indeed simply mean "universal", as in all Christians everywhere.

We're on the same page.

The Catholic Church needs to give that word back to us and go find another one. A word like "False" might be a good one for them to use... lol

Baby goes to heaven.

Reference King David speaking about his 1st male child that died after being born to Bathsheba.

Blessings!

So how about this one then? If dying early secures heaven, does that mean that abortion is not such a bad thing? (Not saying that children dont go to heaven).

M
mguldner Nov 17, 2011

Yes, Abortion is still bad because murder is still a sin and thus still wrong.

sermonindex Nov 17, 2011

Thats like saying murdering Christians is really just doing them a favor... yet if you read Revelation God has a special wrath and fury against those who martyr His children.

God hates hands that shed innocent blood.

Yes true but I was thinking of it from the point of the aborted child. Is it not worth a bit of pain to spend eternity in heaven?

sermonindex Nov 17, 2011

With all due respect... I dont see the point of even going there, friend. Abortion is a travesty no matter how you look at it. There is no way to justify it the shedding of innocent blood.

I`m not trying to jutify it and of course murder is wrong but what is wrong with investigating logical conclusions in the search for truth? Truth must be able to bear close inspection - right? It would seem that it is better to die in early childhood even if the cause was abortion than to reach an age where most are going to hell. How many aborted babies would have gone to hell if they had been allowed to live? It is just something that has exercised my brain for many years.

Krautfrau, I believe the answer to this is found in Luke 17:1-- "Then said he [Jesus] unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but woe unto him, through whom they come!"

Yes, the only good thing about it is that they are safe in His arms. And it is better to die in early childhood than to go to hell. But "WOE unto him, through whom they come!"!! WOE unto those who slaughter innocents, no matter if it insures the innocents Heaven!

sermonindex Nov 18, 2011

Again I am not defending it or saying it is not sin therefore deserving punishment but does it mean that they were not saved by Jesus and their choice but by abortion clinic staff?

M
mguldner Nov 18, 2011

There is danger in such "seeking of truth", you maybe well intentioned but one that isn't so well intentioned would use your very argument to justify the killing of the unborn and innocent twisting it to their needs so as Krispy said "Why go there?".

Brenda, as one who has worked in a pro-life ministry for many years, I have asked the same questions.

The conclusion I have come to is that there may be no logical conclusions. It is like the others have said, murder is SIN. but if these innocents go to heaven upon being aborted why should you fight it? Logic breaks down here. Faith steps in carries it from here. God said "don't" and we must back off and allow him to teach us what it holy and take it from there.
[EDIT] And allow God to be God...

Does this make sense, Brenda?
