Hi! Today, I just felt like sharing this Norwegian song about diversity in God's flock written by Jan Honningdal. I've translated it into English - be encouraged :)
"God has a lot of children!
Some are big, while some are small
God has a lot of children!
Some are purple and others are grey!
Some are kind, some are wild
Some are hard to look after!
God has a lot of children!
A lot of different children.
I met an old man on the bus
By his coat, he seemed pretty grey
But when we started to talk together
That man, I realized -
he was only grey on the outside!
God has a lot of children!
Some are big while some are small
God has a lot of children!
Some are purple and some are grey!
Some are nice, some are wild
Some are hard to look after!
God has a lot of children!
A lot of different children.
Last sunday, I visited the local state church.
I heard the priest say: "Hallelujah."
(Choir: God be praised)
He walked around with a long, long dress
But other than that he seemed to be
happy, content and glad!
God has a lot of children!
One place I met both old and young
In a closed warehouse
Some spoke swedish, others in tongues
But other than that they seemed pretty nice!
God has a lot of children!
At Olga's home there was a knitting-meeting
Eight aunts were knitting like a choir
(Choir: Hohohooohoho)
They were sitting with handkerchiefs in their hands
and praying: Dear God, let there come more money this
year than last! [Selling knitted clothing for money to the mission field]
//Oo God has a lot of children!
Some are big, some are small!
Yes, for God has a lot of children!
Some are purple, some are grey!
Some are kind, some are wild
Some are hard to look after!
God has a lot of children!
A lot of different children!
//2x
I'm reminded of DC Talk and a song they had called "Coloured People" with which they wanted to fight rascism. In a live concert, they said the following:
"We happen to believe that much like a wild flower arrangement, part of our beauty as human beings is found in our diversity. We happen to believe that we are all different shades and tones... Because God is a very creative artist!"
Folks, God has a lot of children. A lot of different children. I'm glad it is that way! How about you? ;-)
