Grace in Grief: The Schrock Family, Five Years Later

I saw this video this morning and was so touched by it - I battled tears. I sent its link to most of the people in my address book and have asked Greg if I can post it here and he gave me permission to do so.

It is the story of a Schrock family in Oregon whose five children were killed in an accident 5 years ago. A TV reporter did a follow-up and their testimony is riveting, at the least.

Thanks for sharing this sister. I recently was in a hurry to reach office and I was behind an SUV driven by a women who was unwilling to turn left in Green. She did not make any attempt to yield but waited for Green arrow though there was not much incoming traffic. I was so furious at this women I later went around her and looking at her with anger showing that she has been blocking me. But soon God showed me I need to forgive her and accept her weakness.
The point I am trying to make is, we do not need to wait for wrong side driver to hit us to forgive them but instead start forgiving people with small small things like this. If we fail in small things we will fail in bigger things as well.

Luke 16:10 deals with this principle - Granted he is talking about money but it seems to me this idea has far-reaching applications:

"He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much."

Human nature is such that we want to do big things in order to be noticed but Jesus has some very interesting things to say about the 'least'. Yes, victory begins with faithfulness in the least.

As for the Schrocks is concerned, who would ever have thought that Jesus would get so much honor and glory by afflicting this family so much? I am awed. Speechless...

The haunting words of the newswoman. For the believer, the ultimate test of Luke 14:26.

Luke 7:42-43 Christ loves us much (immeasurable). We are forgiven much (also immeasurable), and at such a cost to Him (unfathomable how immeasurable the cost).Therefore, may we also forgive, for the forgiveness we have received from Christ is far greater than any forgiveness we could ever tender.
