I was thinking of this life and the life in the next and came to a place I believe is healthy to be at. I was thinking of the Sovereign Christ and how He holds it all together. It is incredibly important that we come to this place for many reasons but for me personally I found the peace it brings to my heart to be the most important.
Authority and power apart from Christ is a mear illusion that we cling to in hopes of controling a situation or changing things apart from God's will. We do indeed have Free will (or so I believe) however we operate according to His will and ultimately His will shall be done. Satan loves us to think we are in control, or that we are entitled to power or indeed have that power. We have nothing apart from Christ, we are absolutely desolate.
This to the natural man may devastate because through his entire life he has been taught to take charge, take action, that HE was the master of his universe and destiny. The reality though is we are humans and we are failures and have no business in messing with our destinies or universe.
I am doing everything in my power to rest in Him today, He is my authority and my power. Should this puff us up? Having the authority of Christ? Not one bit because anyone that truly comes to this place is completely humbled by their dependance on Christ Jesus. Similar to Paul and the throne in his side (whatever it may have been) Paul came to a place of dependance on Christ Jesus for everything.
Going through a trail? Christ is there in the mix. Going through heartache? Christ is by your side hurting with you. Going through the fire? Christ is in the fire keeping you and holding you, protecting you from the full force of its flames. Dear brothers and sisters, if we are in the will of God, we are with God and we are in a place of peace. My heart for the first time in a while is finally at rest and is trusting in Christ to minister to my heart and give me the message of Hope. We must humbly follow, if He asks us to speak, we speak, if He asks us to remain silent, we remain silent.
William Booth once said "The Greatness of a man's power is the measure of his surrender to God." Our power is not like that of the world's, its found in our weakness and dependance. :)
God Bless,
Matthew
