The Church of the Comfortable and Tolerant

Greetings Bro. Jesse,It is good to see your writings again.AMEN! and AMEN!We need to continue to wake up the body and speak truth. Too many are comfortable in the pews and are going straight to hell with false assurances from false teachings. This also reminds of the sermon of brother Keith Daniel - The Power of Prayer (video) who talks about a minister who has been sent to a new town and congregation to preach and the first sunday morning he stand up and preached faithfully for God - he preached about hell, he preached about judgement of God and unrepented sin and he cried out "Unlesss you are born again you cannot go to heaven which result through repentence and faith by grace in the blood Jesus Christ". And after he preached sermon about hell and repentence the chief elder with all the elders and all the deacons, through the voice of the chief elder in front of congregation said to him: "You will never, never preach again like that in our church, don't you dare ever preach these things again, you will never use the word hellfire in our pulpit, don't tell us again repent or you will going to hell - we are christians man!"... The first thing that popped up in my mind when reading this was my friend yesterday said about his church, "He is just the pastor they are looking for."See my friend’s church is looking for a pastor right now. My friend said the pastor was talking about the Broncos football game that was coming on while he preached and was referring to that being a sacrifice. In Sunday school he agreed with someone and said that "Josh Grishm?" was his favorite author. I have heard that name before he is some secular author. The congregation supposedly loved him. This new Church was called "The Church of the Comfortable and Tolerant". I grew up in this church. The Lie innoculated me against the gospel. By the grace of God, he rescued me from the dark ditch. Praise be to God for those who are yelling the truth from atop a car hood or roof. Love you, Jesse. Dian.

I grew up in this church as well and was a "poster child" of sorts. I had allowed myself as a young child to be spray-painted with this false Jesus. Thank God for his deliverance.The Church of Comfort is simply the altar of Baal. Eze 16:49 (BBE) Truly, this was the sin of your sister Sodom: pride, a full measure of food, and the comforts of wealth in peace, were seen in her and her daughters, and she gave no help to the poor or to those in need.The Tolerant church doesn't want to offend. I would love to share something with you all, I'll try to keep it short, but it really links up with this thread.Some time ago, I started doing some sort of "study" on who Jesus was, how He got in touch with people and which message He preached.I started off reading Mark to discover the characteristics of Jesus (humble, radical, fearless, devoted to God etc.) but I stopped right away at the first verse....:-P You'll never believe that God hit me with this verse:"The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God"This verse truly showed me that every scripture is from God, it's rather ridiculous to be touched by such a simple fact. But let me tell you why it struck me...it touched me, because of the way this verse continues:"As it is written in the prophets, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. The voice of one crying in the wilderness...John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins."You might think: "Ok...really great huh :-?, a guy who's preaching in the desert. I like it and it's necessary, but what's so special about it?"Are you ready? I'll shall make it as clear as possible, as God showed it to me:Fellow Christians, where does it say that the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begins???? YES! It begins with a crying voice in the wilderness! It begins with an obedient John, preaching repentance. Not some great "worship" event, not some mega prayer-walk, not an egocentric Church...nope...it begins with a cry in the wilderness. The Gospel of Jesus will be spread through crying voices in the wilderness!It's time for a changeO Lord, we don't want to be more than holy vessels, but Lord, make us useful. Empty us from "self" and fill us with your Holy Ghost! Bring people where you'll send me, back to You, God!

Hi Brother Jesse,Just my opinion for what it's worth. :-) Why did I like it? It's an accurate representation in the spirit as to what is going on in America. I just pray that people wake up. We have a very short season to fully repent.What did I not like?An allegory is not directly linked to scripture. There's nothing more powerful than scripture, even though allegory can obviously be quite powerful (i.e. Pilgrim's Progress comes to mind).

I liked it alot. It is an simpler (is that a word?) way of presenting a profound truth. Jesus spoke in parables so that the people could grasp what he was sayinh. To me this is a modern parable.
