The interests of Christ Jesus

D
DickH Jan 12, 2012

Phi 2:21 "For they all seek after their own interests, not those of Christ Jesus." NASB

This verse may well get to the heart of service to the Lord. Can anyone please tell me what this means, in a practical sense.

Please consider the issue in light of Jn 6:28-29:

28 "Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?”
29 "Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” NASB

Thanks -Dick

Brother,

The right interest/passion should be what Jesus had and what He taught us in the Lord's prayer.

"...Hallowed be Thy name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven."

Of course, the above desire can come to us only if God puts it Himself. Human beings are by nature selfish and self-seeking. As long as the "self" is not crucified, we will not have any interest for God's kingdom.
