On December 22, 2011, Somali authorities whipped Sofia Osman forty times--forty painful, gut-wrenching lashes. The whipping was administered in front of a cheering crowd of Somali Muslims who seemed to “delight” in Sofia’s pain. But why? What was Sofia’s crime? According to sources, Sofia was flogged on December 22, 2011, for embracing a foreign religion--for converting to Christianity. Although Sofia survived the whipping, she has been relocated to an unknown location. Full Story

Pray that this terrible incident of persecution does not shake Sofia Osman’s faith.
Pray that the Somali government stops punishing citizens that convert to Christianity.
