Why Paul could not suffer loss

Leonard Ravenhill aptly described the Apostle Paul as a man who “had no ambitions [for himself]—and so had nothing to be jealous about. He had no reputation—and so had nothing to fight about. He had no possessions—and therefore nothing to worry about. He had no ‘rights’—so therefore he could not suffer wrong. He was already broken—so no one could break him. He was ‘dead’—so none could kill him. He was less than the least—so who could humble him? He had suffered the loss of all things—so none could defraud him.”

Would that every saint of God could receive this kind of mind, disposition and temperament. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels. Our treasure is the Lord's Spirit who indwells us. Not status, position, possessions, power, authority, celebrity, etc.

Actually, Paul had many ambitions.

To see Christ magnified in his life whether he had much or little.

To the Church grow up into Christ into a "mature man".

The quote from Ravenhill about Paul having no ambitions [for himself]: Perhaps it would have been clearer in meaning if instead of "for himself", it read "selfish". Yes, Paul had ambitions and since he had them, they were his ambitions but they were self-less ambitions, not selfish ambitions.
