Resignation vs acceptance of God's will

M

“Resignation to God’s Plans, and acceptance of God’s Will aren’t the same thing, nor do they produce the same results. Resignation says, ‘I have no choice but to endure this hardship.’ Resignation allows me freedom to feel sorry for myself and to doubt God’s caring presence. Acceptance says, ‘I will trust You, God, for the outcome.’ Whether or not God allowed or ordained it, I probably wouldn’t like or accept the explanation even if God gave one. It all comes back to trust—the place of true acceptance, not just a profession of God’s sovereignty and virtue... My experiencing an abundant life has nothing to do with being ‘strong enough.’ Instead it has everything to do with my taking to heart God’s sovereignty and the virtue of His plans—with or without appeasing answers.”

I read this a while ago and found it to be very helpful. I realize that somewhere along the way I forgot this very simple truth and that my "attitude" in life really does matter to GOD in all things and all situations.

I will never be strong enough that much is true...and yet I don't have to be, because HE is able to supply even that.

Just thought I would share

A good and virtuous word.

Resignation can be viewed with a heavy 'sigh'.

Acceptance, can be, as did Jesus, "Not My will, but Thy will".

God bless.

Thank you enid, a simple thought that you shared and I can carry with me through the day to help keep my attitude in check with HIM :)

Keeping my attitude in check with Him?

Now, that is something to think about.

God bless.

A further thought concerning attitude.

The attitude that I have at this moment, is it acceptable before God? Acceptable enough to have when we stand before the judgment seat of Christ? 2 Corinthians 5:10.

2 Corinthians 5:10

English Standard Version (ESV)
10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Greetings enid

Yes reading this passage does cause me to give pause. I know the attitude of my heart toward life situations as well as others is something I further want to die to. When I think of how often I have behaved like a spoiled child with my actions and attitude...I cringe. I am learning daily (sometimes multiply times daily because I am so thick skull) that my attitude and heart matter. know that the day will come when I stand before the Lord I want to live now with my heart and attitude in HIS will and not for self. I am so thankful though that I do not have to do this on my own. HIS strength and HIS life there with me always making it possible.

These are truly good seeds to hold on to close to the heart and to think upon as I rise in the morning and before closing my eyes to sleep at night...

God Bless
mary
