Well, I got a gift certificate from Barnes and Noble for Christmas. $15. Can't decide on a book to buy. Any Suggestions? Used or out of print or new, as long as I can find it on their site. Thanks

Hello IA Holmes Ahh the gift of books is such a wonderful thing and there are so many great books out there. It's always good to go with the clasics most of the time you can never go wrong there. I am reading an interesting book right now by a fellow by the name of Devern Fromke(I beleive he has a couple of sermons on this site) which is called The Ultimate Intention. I am on chapter 5 right now and so far so good. also if you go to rarechristianbooks.com you can see some of the out of print and or hard to get older christian books out there, and I know this is going to make you hapy greg, you can even get a list of Leonard Ravenhills recommended reads:) hope this helps Andy out

Mr Fromke's book Unto Full Stature is also excellent but unfortunately his books can't be had at B&N. :-( In Christ,Ron

Why Revival Tarries By Leonard Ravenhill was a huge inpact on me. All of Leonard Ravenhill's books are impacting though.. Sodom had no Bible.. there are many others..

I agree Ravenhill is very good, Revival Prayers is an excellent book. I'm working my way through the Power of Prayer by R.A. Torrey. Aruthur Pink is a good one also. Stay with the classics! And be careful, there is alot of bad stuff out there, I run a bookstore.

Also Christians in full armor by William Gurnal is a very key book. what a great discusion. Anybody know of any good church history books? maybe that includes all of church history and not just the Catholic and Protestant side, but offer some insight into the Greek Orthodox church as well. Andy

There are a lot of great literary works to choose from out there! As far as church history goes there is a fellow named phillip Schaf that has an 8 volume set that runs from the church of Acts to the Reformation. Also Tyndale publishing put out a 1 yr. devotional book that covers the past 2,000 years by pulling out intresting facts and stories and placing them in a 1 page per day format. Let me also recomment Alfred Ediershiem. He wrote "Life and Times of Jesus the Messiah" a wonderful book on just that, and "The Temple" another great book. I could spend all day suggesting great books--but don't ever let books override THE book. :)
