PURITY & FIRE by Leonard Ravenhill

Greetings!

It has been quite some time since I last listened to this message. This message is divided into four parts.

PURITY & FIRE is a deeply heart-wrenching message that causes us to re-examine our motives. Brother Ravenhill mentions that a minister once asked his congregation to divide by those who were seeking "purity" and those who were seeking "fire." This minister told brother Ravenhill that the congregation overwhelmingly lined up for "fire."

However, Brother Leonard reminds us that you cannot truly have the "fire" of God unless you first have sought "purity." You cannot have the fire of God without seeking purity before Him. Likewise, the fire of God can come and envelope a believer as a "refining fire" that will either make the believer pure or totally consumed.

Brother Ravenhill reminds us that the fire of God doesn't need to be "advertised." People will see it through the darkness and be drawn to it. However, that fire can only be ignited in the hearts of those who are desperate for Him and are longing to be pure before His sight.

Be challenged -- and edified!

Thank you brother. This was an edifying reminder and exhortation.

"Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness..."

Why we've had 30+ yrs of "strange fire".

Thanks for posting these messages.

Thanks brother Chris,

This reminds me of reading a message by Smith Wigglesworth a while back when I was seeking God for healing. When right in that message was how we seek God for healing and other blessings but not purity and holiness. He said - so to speak- that we should desire purity more than healing and right then it quickened in my heart and I said to God make me pure Lord because I’d rather die and face you with a pure heart than to receive healing and live with an unclean heart.

Blessings to you!

Very good point, rbanks!

There is something that is worse than dying. It is dying without knowing the love of God or having made things right in his presence.

After all, what does it profit a person to gain the whole world but lose his own soul (Matthew 16:26)? Like you, I would rather die than to live a 1000 years on this Earth without the opportunity to know and fellowship with the Lord throughout Eternity.

We are blessed with the opportunity to know Him in this earthly temple in this corrupted world. There is nothing more important in this life than to know Him. That knowledge of the Holy can only come in a heart that desperately desires to be pure before His sight.

It reminds me of the song by Rhea Miller (and sang by Dallas Holm):

I'D RATHER HAVE JESUS
by Rhea F. Miller
Public Domain

I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

Refrain:
Than to be the king of a vast domain
And be held in sin’s dread sway;
I’d rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today.

I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
I’d rather be true to His holy name

He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead

:-)
