Is there a congregation of Believers left in the Tulsa Area?

I search here in Tulsa and have yet to find a church that is not all entirely focused on the world, or on building the religious "entity" that is that particular church. I have not found Wilkerson, or Cymbala like preaching. I haven't found a group that's not either "health and wealth" or "doctrinally exclusive" (on matters that are of opinion). I seek to Follow Christ Jesus, in the power and move of the HOLY SPIRIT, to the Glory of God the Father, by the instruction of the WORD. Here in "T-Town" it seems we only have either the "word" or the "holy spirit" but not a place of worship in "SPIRIT" AND "TRUTH."

The same can be said of Knoxville, TN. I searched and searched for years (20) and I can't count anymore the churches I've attended and visited to find the what you just described. Lo and behold, a couple of months ago someone told me about a little church called The Rock. I visited and sat in the back to watch and now I call this my home church in TN. They believe in the word and actually give the Holy Spirit time to operate. I left at 1:10 on a Sunday afternoon!

Fast and pray brother I don't live there in Tulsa but I trust the Lord to show you where the remnant is!!

―There must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.‖ (I Corinthians 11:19)

I don't even have to go out on a limb to say this, but I believe without a doubt God has His people in Tulsa. There are many heresies there and undoubtedly there are many men and women of God. Maybe not in the "structure" you may be looking for, but they are there. Lysa has some good advice. In the meantime, while you are waiting on the Lord, preach the Gospel, and make disciples.

I had to smile when I read your post title, jbl. There IS a famine in the land....for the HEARING of the Word of God, and for THE PRESENCE of the Lord in our communities and meetings.....and I believe that not only is it Nationwide, but WORLDWIDE!, and I think it is from God. He is driving His remnant, His Bride into the Wilderness.

“Therefore, behold, I will allure her, [ and ]
Bring her [ drive her ] into the wilderness
And speak kindly to her.
“Then I will give her her vineyards from there, [the desert; wilderness ]
And the valley of Achor [ suffering and conflict ] as a door of hope. "

[ There you learn not to trust in yourself, but in God who raises the dead. ]

I think that God has two or three million people in America Jbl, that are being separated just as you. It's everywhere.

My advice: start small...just look for Christians that you can fellowship with, and you may find some that would actually want to fellowship with you and show hospitality to you. Be the example too, and begin to invite people into your home to break bread, a meal, and the Word. Have fun, just like you do with your kids and friends.

This is fellowship, and then, let the Vision of the Word grow in you all to make disciples, and to GO, doing so. My sincere best wishes for you, and I can relate to your dilemma, after all, Tulsa is no one horse town...!

Hey jabreedlove,

There is a church in Tulsa called Emmanuel Church. This church helps publish the books of T. Austin-Sparks free of charge. I've talked with one of the believers there and they are a very Christ-centred people. In terms of preaching, they do not have a pastor there, but every Sunday, these believers gather together in the Lord and fellowship as the Body of Christ.

I bear witness to these people [ EMMANUEL CHURCH ]as solid. I only know them through telephone talking, but have done so for 15 years, and TAS is my mentor, through his writings. They seem very sweet, and servant minded.
