Here is a piece I came across on from a link on twitter that examines the thinking between conservatives and liberals and why the mindset becomes so different. The writer is a liberal thinker but he seems fair in his analysis. It makes for a good read. What do you think about it?
Consider how the two political spirits in america mimic the two religious spirits that dominate our land. On the left hand you have the liberals who talk of the physical needs of the poor but who will also murder a baby or approve of homosexuality. On the other hand you have those that oppose abortion and homosexuality but promote war and greed. Both kingdoms are destined to perish, even when they are cloaked in religious garments. Democrat/emergent church and republican/christian right are the "secular" and "religious" versions of the same kingdoms.
Jesus said His kingdom is not of this world. We are strangers and pilgrims just passing through as we take care of our Kings business.
